1424 TopicsAdding local space by mounting extra drive inside Dropbox folder
Hi, I am using Dropbox on linux and it works OK. It is installed on my home drive /home/myname/Dropbox, as it should. Syncing to and from the cloud works fine. My problem is that my home drive (/home/myname) is running out of space, so I mounted an extra drive inside the Dropbox directory on my home drive: /home/myname/Dropbox/Dropbox-extra. I can see this new folder in the listing in the cloud and on my local computer, but files or directories inside this new folder (i.e. /home/myname/Dropbox/Dropbox-extra/xxxx) are not syncing with the cloud (neither to or from the cloud). How do I make this to work? If this doesn't work I need to replace my current drive for new one, although I have enough space with the "solution" I decribed above. Any hints what I can do to make this work?30Views0likes3CommentsFree up Dropbox space using external hard drive?
Dear smart people, I want to free up space in Dropbox by deleting files there. Can someone explain how to put the contents (mostly word documents and some photos) of my current Dropbox onto an external hard drive in case I need something in the future? Step by step instructions I mean. I don't know how to do it, but am also concerned that the copied files could disappear from the external hard drive when I then delete them from my Dropbox account. Is that possible? I use Dropbox from a laptop computer. I looked at past discussion posts but they're all too complicated. Thank you SO much for your help!18Views0likes1CommentUsed storage is larger than the total size of my files
Hi, Iām using the Basic plan. Even after deleting a large folder (12GB), my storage still shows 7.2GB used. All files now total only about 3.4GB. Deleted files and backups are empty. Could you please reset or recalculate my storage usage? Thank you.14Views0likes2CommentsReferral bonus marked as ineligible, after my brother claimed it on a new laptop.
Hi, my brother recently bought brand new laptop and registered in addition to MS account my brother account and invited him to install Dropbox using email. On completing all necessary steps I've got status "Ineligible" and he has got the same message Please, clarify what is the reason of the status.40Views0likes5CommentsReferral marked āIneligibleā despite full compliance.
Hi Dropbox Team, Iām reaching out regarding an issue with your referral system ā and this is now the second time Iāve experienced it. Recently, I referred a colleague sitting next to me at work. She followed the exact steps: She clicked my referral link. She created a completely new Dropbox account with a previously unused company email. She installed the Dropbox app on her own desktop computer, which had never had Dropbox installed before, and signed in. We work at the same company, so while we might share an external IP, we use separate desktop computers with different internal IPs. Despite this, her referral status is listed as āIneligible.ā Since Iāve experienced this same issue before with another legitimate referral, Iām beginning to feel concerned about how the system is evaluating valid cases like ours. I truly value Dropbox and have been recommending it to people around me. But when these referrals are consistently flagged, it becomes difficult to maintain confidence in the process ā and frankly, it's embarrassing. Iād really appreciate it if someone could take a closer look at this particular referral and clarify why it may have been marked ineligible. If thereās a technical reason, Iād love to understand it better to avoid similar issues in the future. Thanks in advance for your time and support.56Views0likes3CommentsReferral marked āIneligibleā despite full compliance again

My storage space was reduced. I got in dropbox today and had a notice stating I was using 156% of my space. I dug in and it appears my storage space went from 15 or 16 GB down to 7GB. I did not receive any communications about this. Has this happened to anyone else? I thought the extra space I had was permanent, I have had Dropbox for 10+ years. Seems odd that they would now lower it without warning.17Views0likes1CommentI referred a friend to Dropbox, but their referral has been marked as ineligible.
I referred to my friend but it shows referral ineligible. Could Support team add back my referral free storage bonus to my account? It seems my friend didn't know that he has to sign-up through my invite link and he just signed up by himself right after he got the email about the referral. He removed his account now but wish we can get the ineligible status wiped away and claim the free storage bonus to our accounts. Thanks in advance team!39Views0likes3CommentsThe iOS/iPad app is reporting that I'm out of device storage
Both the Dropbox app on my iPhone and my iPad are stating I am out of local iPhone storage when I have plenty. I launch app and it says: āTo continue using Dropbox, delete some files, photos, or apps from your device. Yet my iPhone 16 Pro Max shows Iām using only 199.09GB of 1.02TB And my iPad Pro shows Iām using only 322.48GB of 2TB.. So not using anywhere near all my storage so not sure why not letting me use the App. Can use fine on MacBook, windows and a Android Phone its only with the iOS Devices :-(69Views0likes7CommentsAll Files Show ONLINE but computer space is not cleared.
Hello, is any one else having issue with dropbox listing all files to be "ONLINE ONLY" but computer storage is not being cleared. Huge issue on our end as the computer's capacity is 2TB and the files online (dropbox) are 2.12TB. The huge problem is, since the files are not online, my computer is maxed out and it started to be in operational. All the folders have the "grey cloud" and list 0kb which means they are not taking any space but my storage drive says it only has a few GBs available. Please help here as we are a studio trying to wrap up some packaging items. Thanks, Fernando [email removed as per Community Guidelines]1.5KViews0likes6Comments
