93 TopicsI've made a folder online-only, but it's still taking up several GBs on my Mac computer.
I have a folder named > Books which takes up a total 60.95 GB But I noticed that on my Mac (macOS Sequoia 15.3.1) the folder is listed as taking up 21.34 GB (25.81 GB on disk). Questions: 1. I think its odd that "size on disk" is even larger than "size"—any idea why? 2. More importantly: why is this folder taking up 25.81 GB on disk when I've commanded the folder to be online-only using the Make online-only command? (yes, I've restarted) I understand that your support document (https://help.dropbox.com/delete-restore/cache-folder) recommends deleting the hidden cache folder named .dropbox.cache, but I don't seem to have that. Instead I simply have .dropbox. Is this the same thing? I assume not, doesn't look like a hidden folder, I don't want to delete something I shouldn't be.Solved193Views0likes7CommentsI right clicked on my dropbox file and clicked make online only..now what?
I right clicked on my dropbox file and clicked make online only..now what? The dropbox file/folder in my laptop has over 400 GB. I made that file Make available Online Only but it still shows 400GB of my laptop space used. What do I do? Do I delete the files that were in my laptop? We use Dropbox in our company and despite default settings being set to online only, I've noticed that Dropbox will sill download all files as offline. This has happened to a few users lately. The steps that I have taken is to sign out of Dropbox, unlink the account, delete the files on the hard drive, restart the computer and re-sign in. I have double verified that the settings say online only but despite this after a few days it will download all files offline again. There is something wrong with Dropbox and I'm not sure if it's a windows update or what. All we use is Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and Blue Beam PDF. The antivirus we use is Microsoft's windows defender. Any ideas what is causing this would be greatly appreciated.24Views0likes1CommentOnline-only files are re-downloading automatically
Dropbox version 218.4.4348 My files are marked as online-only, but download back to my hard drive space after opening. I want this to stop. It's bad enough that 6 months has passed and they still don't support CR3 files so all of my gallery previews are completely blown out, but now files are just redownloading themselves and eating the space I need. Is there a setting to disable this?Solved662Views0likes4CommentsStop asking me to upgrade! I've removed content from my local Dropbox folder.
I keep getting messages about storage I have removed files from the dropbox folder on my local machine. Well < 2GB Yet when I go online I can see on lt the same files, but and told I am using 9.4GB. Are you just trying to get me back on a paid subscription? Why are changes made on my local machine not reflecting online. I introcued many user to Dropbox and was rewarded for thia many years ago, did you also just remove my "earned space" reward?22Views0likes1CommentWhy do the files that I upload use up hard drive space and not Dropbox storage only?
Hello, I purchased the dropbox plus for the 2TB. I am uploading photos and vids to dropbox desktop app on my file explorer, however, I got a message saying my computer storage was running low on space (not the dropbox storage). Will that stop affecting my computer storage after it syncs? How do I make it so it only affects my dropbox storage and not my computer storage (since the point of me getting dropbox was to upload to a different storage). Thank You!33Views0likes1CommentDropbox is out of space and won't sync, but total space usage for folders is underquota
My dropbox space utilization is at 638 MB but Dropbox stopped syncing and says I have used 2.88 GB. I have already included shared folders in that calculation of space utilization and I do not use Dropbox backup. It feels like a ploy to frustrate to the point of getting me to upgrade. Does anyone have ideas on how to solve this issue? Here is an image with all my folders (see center of screen). The total space used when you add that up is about 640 MG. You can see in the lower left corner it says I have utilized 2.88 GB.19Views0likes1CommentCannot set files as online-only on new Windows 11 computer
Dropbox (Business account) installed on a new computer, and it won't set files as online-only; every file is available offline, which filled the memory on a brand new SDD. The .dropbox.cache was deleted and re-installation after restart, using selective sync to show only selected files (but not the files I need). Admin console shows that online only is the default. "Manage Hard Drive Space" doesn't work, because as soon as files are selected to be "online only", they go back to being available offline immediately. There is another computer I use that does NOT have this issue, only on new computer (Win 11 home, then upgraded to Win 11 Pro).56Views0likes8CommentsMy hard drive is full even though I've set my folder to be online-only
Agreed to the new Mac Folders and the sync tells me my hard drive is full and I have all of my folders set for Make online only. Everything shows clouds but when I check my hard drive utility it says all space is taken and normally half my drive is clear. I cleared cache but no help. This is the second time a full sync like this has happened in 2 days.Solved648Views0likes16Comments
