sync
4473 TopicsI see no menu after clicking on the Dropbox tray icon on Fedora 43.
Application Affected Dropbox Tray Icon Device ThinkPad 230 Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Linux Fedora 43 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Dear all, after losing many hours, I am getting nearer to make Dropbox work on Fedora 43 as it should. For now, I can see the Dropbox folder, the Dropbox tray icon on the top bar, however clicking on it (left/right click) does absolutely nothing. It means that it keeps synchronising all folders, which I don't want. I know that when installed correctly, the tray icon does show the sync menu, allowing to select which folders to sync and which not to. So obviously, I've gone wrong somewhere. Has anyone got a cure for this? I am not an expert, but have really found this very difficult.. All help is welcome. Thank you. Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Window 11 currently uptodate Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 239.4.8301 Syncing Status frozen Question or Issue I've had this issue for months now anytime the computer it turned off or goes to sleep. Dropbox is not available on the computer when indexing freezes. The only way to access dropbox is on the web. Hovering over the dropbox icon just shows the version number 239.4.8301 and indexing 1,391 files with nothing changing even after hours. No option to open dropbox and nothing happens when clicking on the icon. I have to force quit dropbox processes, usually 9 of them plus the dropbox service process. When I run dropbox again if starts all over and sometimes finishes indexing and other times just freezes a some random number of files to index, is not the same number every time. This was never an issue until several months ago. I've had a paid dropbox account for years and never had any issues until this issue started. It keeps new files from syncing across devices since nothing is updated to the web from or to the computer where the indexing has frozen and I have to manually check to see if frozen. Unfortunately if I can't find a fix, I'll have to look for other options. At this point I never know if the files are current in dropbox or not.12Views0likes1CommentSet directories to be ignored in Dropbox via a given name/regex
I am referring to discussion "How to set all directories in Dropbox with a given name/regex to be ignored" (https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001016/how-to-set-all-directories-in-dropbox-with-a-given-nameregex-to-be-ignored-/830218) vladgasan mentioned that the engineering team wants to tackle this feature. How far have they come? Thanks, waldallaSolved47Views0likes4CommentsApp keeps indexing after moving Dropbox folder with over 1 TB from one disk to another
Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 239.4.8301 Syncing Status Indexing - formerly "Synching" Question or Issue I wanted to move the Dropbox to a new larger SSD. Step 1: Copied with Teracopy all Files to new disk, stopped Dropbox, renamed the drive-name of the Disks - new Disk to F:\\Dropbox\Dropbox - the usual path. Dropbox tried to resynchronize for days, so I stopped. Btw: I also stopped the Windows Antimalware Realtime Protection to support the performance Step 2: I relocated the old smaller SSD, everything was fine Step 3: I tried the built-in tool "move Dropbox" - it stopped several times to an "unknown error" Step 3: I used robocopy to copy again to the new Disk to preserve Time-Stamps. Renamed the Drive-Name to F:\\ - on the first glance everything looked fine. But now, Dropbox is re-indexing again. Taking some time right now. What did I do wrong and/or what could I do better? Thx, RobertSolved46Views0likes4CommentsMy macOS desktop app has been stuck syncing 10MB for 3 days.
Application Affected Dropbox Device MacBook Air Operating System/Browser (if using the web) OS 15.7.3 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 238.4.6305 Question or Issue Three days ago I noticed an error message at the top of the finder window which was open to my Dropbox folder (stored in "locations"). The message said something to the effect that my Dropbox app couldn't be found. I thought that was strange, because Dropbox was open. So I quit the app and then reopened it, and that's when things really started getting strange. Now, day three, Dropbox is constantly in sync mode. The icon up in the task bar shows the circle of arrows, and when I click on it says syncing down at the bottom. But for most of the last two days there was no progress bar and no information about what was syncing. Now I'm getting "syncing [x number of files]." When I first looked this morning it was at 500+ 10 MB. Now it's down to 444 files, 9 MB. Progress! The thing is, I only use Dropbox for syncing one particular application, Scrivener. My entire storage on Dropbox is only 275 MB. It usually takes seconds to sync the updated files. The other strange thing is that on the activity monitor Dropbox never rises above 4% CPU. It's been going for more than 48 hours at a snail's pace to sync relatively tiny files. Possibly relevant, or just coincidental: about two weeks ago I cleared the data from the MacBook and reinstalled everything. After that, everything appeared to be in place and working just fine. This problem appeared after I returned from about 10 days travel over the holidays in which I was rarely on the computer. I've quit and reopened Dropbox multiples times. I've restarted the computer. None of it has helped.63Views0likes4CommentsPlease add an option to fully cancel sync
Hi, I have had this issue several times, when I'm using dropbox in windows explorer and I want to make my dropbox files only available online but by mistake I click on the option to make all files available offline and there is no way to cancel the process. This is very annoying because I don't want to sync almost 3TB to my computer, often I don't even have enough space to do so, but dropbox keeps trying and taking forever to sync until I can make those files only available onlline again, so the only solution is to pause the synchronization and completely uninstall Dropbox, reinstall it again and wait for it to check everything once again, which is also a process that takes a good amount of time. Please add an option to fully cancel a sync because I'm really thinking of cancelling my subscription at this point, it is very annoying and this problem has been known for a while already. Also why do you set the option to make all files available offline right next to the option to make them only available online? That makes it very easy to click the wrong one by mistake.Solved19Views0likes3CommentsI don't see "sync now" or any other similar options (never had).
Application Affected (Dropbox Desktop, though same on my ipad and Samsung phone as well.) Device (Desktop)Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 10.) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 239.4.8301 I have seen a new option to immediate syncing in case the queue is long but I never saw it popping up in my menu bar. I wonder if it's because windows stopped showing my Dropbox menus and the solution was manually adding the registry and that menu wasn't in the registry? In that case where can I find the updated registry? Also, is this an option on mobile apps? I don't have files locally synchronised so maybe that makes all the difference? Thank you!27Views0likes6CommentsFiles added through the desktop app to my new account haven't synced to my phone
just created my Dropbox Basic account for the first time, and I’m having a little trouble. I uploaded a few files, but I can’t seem to sync them across my devices. I’m using the desktop app on Windows and also the mobile app on Android. The files appear on my desktop, but they’re not showing up on my phone. Has anyone else faced this with a new Dropbox Basic account? What steps should I take to make sure everything syncs properly? Thanks in advance for your help!15Views0likes1Comment
