Hi everyone, As you may know, Dropbox doesn't sync files on Android any more as of last year or so (see this, for example). They used to be in sdcard>Android>data>com.dropbox.android>files, but the new "available offline" option stores them in the cache of the Db app, which other apps cannot access (you wouldn't be able to locate them with Files, for example), to ensure their safety, I would guess. The only way to use these files on your device apart from through the Db app is to "export" them after they were made "available offline" (so basically to properly download them locally), and it is thus impossible to do what Dropbox is meant to do in the first place : read and write synced files. I personally would like to edit note files on my computer and my phone and to get them synced by Db, but there seems to be no way to reach and edit locally stored (note) files with my note-taking app. The only workaround I found to this problem is using third party app that syncs files with your Dropbox repository, such as Dropsync or FolderSync, which were explicitly meant for that : "New files in your cloud account are automatically downloaded onto your device. [...] This is how Dropbox works on computers but not on Android. Two-way automatic synchronization should be an essential function of the official app. For whatever reason, it is not the case. Dropsync is here to fill the gap." [Dropsync app description] But then I am not too keen on adding more complexity to my workflow, increase the likeliness of some incompatibility or other "technical issues" to emerge in the future and, moreover, to potentially put my professional and personal data into more covetous digital hands than they already are in (free apps that manipulate my data? I sense what the product might be)... So my questions are : has anyone in here ever tried these solutions and did it work as planned? Any (unusual) worries to have regarding privacy with these solutions? And above all (@support people?), is there any way to circumvent the issue without these? Hello all, Apologies for the repost if so but I need help understanding the functionality of the cloud tech and services. My goal is to have an unlimited cloud backup on Dropbox of my Synology NAS archive. Does Dropbox Back-Up support that? Details: I have a Synology NAS 4-bay. I use it for personal archives and some client collaboration (photo and video). I want to use Dropbox for client collaboration instead and reserve Synology for personal archive and backblaze as cloud back-up for the archive (which also includes client work). Mostly because the Synology is currently via wifi and is too slow for collaborating but okay for archive. While making a personal Dropbox account I saw Dropbox Back-up allows unlimited space for backing up. I thought this might be useful and perhaps an alternative to backblaze for the back-ups need (in addition to the personal account for collaboration needs) Then I saw this, "Files on your PC or Mac are continuously backed up to the cloud." Does Dropbox Back-Up support syncing all Synology NAS files with unlimited space or only the local computer and external drive? Is this how this works or am I thinking about this wrong? Edit: Synology has Hyper Backup where you can sync to Dropbox. Do I start there and work back to Dropbox Backup unlimited plan?Solved20KViews0likes5CommentsHow to autosave an Excel file to Dropbox every 10 min?

Hello All, I have a remote camera at my cabin in Tennessee, it is accessible through an app and is always on. The camera typically senses movement will snap 3 pictures and upload/email them to my gmail account. However gmail has changed access using 3rd party apps and I can no longer receive the pictures. I was told I can setup dropbox as an FTP server and my camera will upload to my dropbox, all videos and pictures. Is this possible? and if so, would anyone have a step by step to set this up? Hi, I'm encountering a problem while using Google sheets that's integrated with Dropbox. It used to be fine, but when I tried to open it today, the page refused to load and the message that I got is "File could not open. Try refreshing the page". I already tried to refresh the page several times, but it wouldn't work. I even tried to copy the file and open the copy -- but again, to no avail. This happened to my several other Google sheets documents as well. What do you think is happening and what should I do now? I'm afraid that it will affect my other Google documents since I'm using the Google-Dropbox integration quite often. I'd appreciate any help, thanks!Solved24KViews0likes46CommentsThe Requested Operation Couldn’t Be Completed error - Dragging & Dropping into Files app on iPad
Each time I try to drag and drop a file using the files app I'm greeted with an error message: The requested operation couldn't be completed because the feature is not supported. Any ideas to fix it? Or is it just another Dropbox issue that won't ever get addressed like the missing favourites bug? Note, dragging and dropping works flawlessly using Google Drive, One Drive, iCloud etc. I've tried removing and redownloaded Dropbox etc.8.6KViews2likes26Comments- 28KViews0likes3Comments
What is the best way to migrate my OneDrive files to Dropbox?
Hello, I plan on moving around 250GBs worth of files from my OneDrive to my Dropbox. Is there a tool or anything that I can use to help with this migration? Is there a recommended procedure to run through? Would tools like Robocopy suffice? ThanksSolved16KViews2likes2Comments
