Can you please let me know if Dropbox will work like my normal PC with integration into windows explorer and ability to view files offline etc with the new Microsoft surface pro x 2 in 1 machine with the new arm chip? If it doesn't when are you likely to change Dropbox so it does work like it does on the Pc? This will be a show stopper and I'll move to one drive if Dropbox can't work like a normal Pc
Hello @Jezeal; sorry for the late response and thanks for posting your question in our Community!
To directly cut to the chase, ARM is a type of processor used in a computer that affects the applications that you can install on your computer. Microsoft released a version of Windows 10 that supports ARM processors, specifically Qualcomm Snapdragon 835.
The Dropbox desktop app isn’t compatible with ARM processors. If your Windows 10 device uses an ARM processor, you can’t install the Dropbox desktop app.
If that's the case with your new Surface Pro X2 device, you have other options to access Dropbox from Windows 10 on ARM computers:

I hope this information helps while I'll also make sure to pass your comments on to our dev team; thank you for your feedback and showing your interest on this. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thanks for the response @Jezeal - how are you today?
I'm afraid I don't have anything to share on this at the moment; I'll update this thread if anything changes though.

Yeah at first when I got excited about the Surface Pro X the thought occurred to me "Man if Dropbox doesn't work on it natively that's going to be a dealbreaker." But the more I think about it, I shouldn't let the lack of full support stop me from getting a device that will give me the workflows that I need. Hopefully things work out in terms of having access to my files on Dropbox in some seamless way (I can live with S mode offline folders if I have to) but if things proove to be a pain in the butt I do have OneDrive to fall back onto.
There is a growing trend for manufacturers to supply small formfactor Windows 10 Laptops and tablets using Snapdragon (ARM) processors instead of Intel or AMD. These are now powerful enough to support Win10, and have much better power usage. Unfortunately the full Dropbox is not supported in these machines right now - only the Windows Store App version can be used, which is way too limiting for most people (including myself) This is a growing market that Dropbox can ill afford to miss. I have having to use an alternative file sharing solution right now, but I still hope to back to Dropbox..... Thanks for listening.
Hi ,we are Dropbox for Business users for years.
Our organisation needs a very flexible solution, due to the fact we are moving all over the world.
In November we will equip all our team with the Surface Pro X. we just ordered 50 units for the first test.
Are you developping a DropBox app for mobility offering the same quality than the desktop one ?
If not, you will be pull out of the mobility market very fast. We will be obliged to move to OndeDrive for Business.
We are also moving to Team. And the plugin from DropBox doesn't offer real solution. We can access to the DropBox from team, but we are obliged to copy the files to OneDrive for a conveniant use. Are developping a better plugin ?
Mobility is now a must have for a cloud company. Please move !!!!!! we love DropBox for years, and to be obliged to go to OneDrive is not what we want. But you are really too slow in development for mobility at the moment.
Best regards
