I don't think it's good enough that Dropbox won't release code that allows all of the functionality of Dropbox to work on an ARM processor. The app or website version is almost useless for what I need it for and if Dropbox don't get with the times, they will be replaced by OneDrive. I've loved and used Dropbox for years but I am so disappointed that it's incompatible with my brand new surface and they seemingly have no intention to rectify the problem. So disappointing.
Hi Walter,
wake up. My company will also move to onedrive if there is no solution visible for Dropbox, You guys are far behind the real world.
Another long time dropbox premium member beign forced to change to Onedrive.
I don't see it as a force, but a challenge to move to onedrive. It is at least as good as onedrive. I only can suggest to move away from them, I for sure will. With microsoft 365 I get 6 TB of space on onedrive. It's not worth to beg them.
Has this changed? I have a surface Pro X, love it. But I cannot get Dropbox for S mode to work, No desktop working, I think I will take my team to Onedrive as well.
Nope! I'm still using Dropbox for S Mode and it likes to crash quite often. I have to resort to the Dropbox web version to upload documents that S Mode hates. Still work to be done...
To add to the issues. When I drag and drop documents from the Desktop to Dropbox for S Mode file folders, the document will not show up. I have to refresh Dropbox everytime in order for the document to show up. Drobox for S Mode is counterproductive.
Hi All,
I just purchased a new Microsoft Surface Pro X with Windows 10 Pro installed.
As usual, I tried to install key apps including Dropbox desktop app.
The installer failed pretty early citing: "Your devide is not compatible with this version of the Dropbox app. Dropbox for S mode will run on your device. Do you want to install it from the MS Store".
My device is not in S Mode. Why would the installer be failing here?
Thanks for any help.

Because the Surface Pro X uses an ARM processor instead of an Intel or AMD processor like you'd find in a regular comptuer. Applications you would install on a regular computer aren't compatible with ARM processors. The version of Windows 10 on your tablet was created specifically for ARM.
Thanks Rich,
After reading the posts on this, looks like the issue has been raised 5 years ago with no action by Dropbox for an ARM compatible desktop app version.
I've turned my autorenewal off, Onedrive it is...
