Having my personal and business account on the same MacBook pro computer.

Hello, since I bought my new computer, I am not able to have both my personal (basic) and business account on the same computer. I am not sure how to link both accounts to the same device and make it visible on my finder sidebar. They both are still visible and sync-able on my old computer (mac air), but  on my new computer, the personal dropbox folder is now just a regular folder that does not sync. In the help section, it says when you log into the desktop app, it will automatically add the computer to your account. However, this only worked for my business account which was the one I used to log into the app for the first time. There doesn't seem to be an option for adding the second account (personal) to the same device. Any advice?

  • Hello Mark, thanks for you assistance, but I finally figured it out. I believe it's what you intended me to do all along. I had been clicking on the dropbox app in my App folder and tried everything to access my preferences/account to log into my personal account. It didn't work, then I saw the dropbox icon on the upper right of my computer screen, next to the computer battery and wifi indicator. I clicked on it, which opened a window. I then clicked on my initials icon at upper right, which allowed me to "access and manage your Dropbox settings". From there I clicked on Preferences ---> Account, and was able to log into my personal account. Both my personal and business account now appears on my finder sidebar. Thanks a million!

Are both still showing as linked at www.dropbox.com/home ?

If you add a file to your personal account does it show online and online where you can see the business one if you toggle between them?

Hello, yes, they are linked and I have no problems toggling between the two when online at the dropbox website. I like to work off of my mac desktop, and cannot seem to get my personal account onto it. When i installed the app, I selected my professional account to be visible/accessible, but after that I see now allowance for my personal dropbox account. In my old computer, they're both up and running on my desktop. When I check Dropbox security, I see two computers registered for my professional account, but only one computer (the new one) for my personal account.

Have you opened the preferences menu of the Mac app and clicked on to 'Account' and signed in on the personal one?

I thought of that. When I click on to the dropbox app on my macbook pro, it just takes me directly to the finder window for my business dropbox folder. There are no app features that i see anywhere to open the dropbox account to log into my personal dropbox.

Yes, control clicked on the dropbox app, but no option for logging into another account.
