List and Remove Commands Do Not Work on Fedora 34 Workstation Edition

List and Remove Commands Do Not Work on Fedora 34 Workstation Edition

I have used Dropbox on Fedora for several years and it has worked fine.

I did a clean install of Fedora 34 Workstation Edition, and then installed Dropbox. It works fine, except for two commands. Neither of these commands work:

     dropbox exclude list

     dropbox exclude remove

The list command returns, "No directories are being ignored.", even though I have a half dozen folders that I excluded, and they are not present.

The remove command returns nothing, just a command prompt.

Is the list stored in a file that I can manually edit?

Thank you,

Peter

Greetings, Hannah!

You encourage me with your diligence in following up--thank you.

I have transferred this problem to the ticket system, since they need screenshots and screencasts to trouble shoot the problem (which may reveal my private information unintentionally):

Thank you.

Greetings, @Hannah !

You encourage me with your speedy reply--thank you!

I tried the attr command that you linked to.

First, I tested it on an existing folder that was being synced in my Dropbox folder. I removed it from syncing (attr -r com.dropbox.ignored pathname/folder), and the green check mark disappeared from the folder in the Files file manager, although the file remained listed. I checked my account on the Dropbox website, and the folder had disappeared, and I checked another computer that syncs the same Dropbox account and the folder had disappeared.

Next, I tested restoring the syncing (attr -s com.dropbox.ignored -V 1 pathname/folder). The green check mark appeared on the folder, and the folder also appeared on both the Dropbox website and the second computer.

Therefore, I conclude that the attr command is not the correct command to use, since it affects the folder status across the entire Dropbox account, not just the folder status on an individual computer.

I think the correct commands to use are the ones listed near the bottom of this Dropbox help page. I have used these commands successfully on earlier versions of Fedora,

https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/linux-commands

or <https://help.dropbox.com/installs-integrations/desktop/linux-commands>.

These are the commands that are not working:

dropbox exclude list

dropbox exclude remove pathname/folder.

The other commands that I have used are working:

dropbox exclude add pathname/folder

dropbox stop

dropbox start

dropbox status

dropbox filestatus

dropbox help.

I hope this additional information clarifies which functions of Dropbox I am referring to.

Thank you,

Peter
