Saving files to dropbox on a Mac

Hi there,

Hope this isn't too annoying but I've searched for an answer and can't seem to find one.

I've recently downloaded Dropbox to my new Mac which was successful. I can access DB by clicking on the icon on the top bar. I can then open up the dropbox folder and access all my files etc. However when I want to save something to dropbox, I can't seem to find it anywhere. I imagine this will be to do with where I have installed it, can anyone give me any tips??

Thanks
Fran : )

  • Hi Horrorstead,

You should be saving in to that Dropbox folder which you access via the Dropbox app on the computer.

Usually it installs to \Users\*your username\Dropbox (Personal)\ can you see that?
  • hm?!!?!

click on the folder icon when the menu opens by clicking on your menubar icon

now your Dropbox folder should open

now right click (or ctrl. click depending on your mouse configuration) on the titlebar of this window right on the name - it should be "Dropbox" in your case. In my screenshot it´s named "Dropbox (Privat)" because I have a team folder too.

Under Dropbox your see the path where it resides - in my case on my internal drive "DATA" on my iMac.

Aha! Ernst, that helped me eventuall locate how to save within drop box. It does make me click through loads of loops however. Do you know how I can save Dropbox within 'favourites' so that it'll always be on the left when I wish to save something? This was the easiest way when I used it on the PC.

    Thanks

Thankyou Mark, yes that is where it is installed and meant I could eventually save to dropbox. Do you know how I could add this to favourites to make it easier each time I was to save?

    Thanks

just go to the folder in the path above DB folder so you can grab the DB folder and drag it to the favourites
