Transferring dropbox from one computer to another

Transferring dropbox from one computer to another

Minnclerk

I have basic Dropbox on 3  of my computers. When I got another new computer, I couldn't add a th computer because it would exceed the 3 computer limit on my basic account. I would like to transfer Dropbox to my new computer by removing one of the old computers, but I don't know how to do it without losing files or accessibility.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Mary

Hi @Minnclerk, thanks for posting today!

You can check your existing connected devices from this page, and then remove one of your unused devices from there directly to free up a space.

All that will happen is that the device itself won't be connected to Dropbox any longer. Your files would be safe on the site, and in the Dropbox folder on that machine.

Once that is done, you can install the Dropbox desktop application on the new computer.

Keep me updated with any progress!
