I have followed the instructions to download Dropbox onto a new laptop from the website ("get the desktop app") but all that is downloading are two documents. one entitled "Gettintg started with Dropbox Paper" Internet Shortcut, and one entitled "Getting started with Dropbox" a PDF File. This latter file merely takes me back to the link to download the App which is where I started. I still have Dropbox via the website and on my tablet and smartphone, but would find it useful to have the desktop App on my new laptop.
On your computer, click the Dropbox icon in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac). When the menu appears, click the globe icon at the top-right.
The Dropbox website will open and automatically sign you in using the account linked to your computer. When the page opens, click Files on the left side of the page. Do you see your files, or just the two "Getting started..." files?
