Waiting to be linked to a dropbox account

Waiting to be linked to a dropbox account

Just setting up a new W10 laptop and trying to install dropbox and sync my files.  I have downloaded the latest version of the app 165.4.4300.

The Dropbox icon in the system tray is greyed out. Opening this I get the message WAITING TO BE LINKED TO A DROP BOX ACCOUNT. If I click on the Sign In button nothing happens.

I have upgraded to Plus so it should not be lack of storage.

Very frustrating - any suggestions please?

Sixx

Hi @Sixx, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you try installing the latest version of the Dropbox desktop application from this link?

Keep me updated with any progress!

I recently migrated to a new Mac Book Pro computer, and my drop box gives me the message that it is waiting for me to link dropbox to an account, but I cannot find the place to do so. All I can see is the spinner and the message "waiting to be linked to a Dropbox account." Please see the screenshot below.

Thank you for your assistance,

Mark A. Ellis

Thanks for reaching out about this, @drmarkellis.

Do you see any "click here to sign in" message?

Also, do you perhaps have any VPN, firewall or antivirus that might be blocking Dropbox?

Try disabling them temporarily, to see if that helps.

Thanks for this info, @Udiek_Widh, and sorry to hear you're having trouble using our desktop app on your macOS computer.

Any security apps installed on it that might be blocking Dropbox?

Hi @Udiek_Widh, have you also checked the steps Hannah mentioned here?

Could you try to access your app's settings, and then go directly into your Account tab to check if you can sign in that way? If not, feel free to send me a screenshot of the message you receive on your end.
