I downloaded Dropbox onto my Mac desktop. It synched my Desktop files and I do not want that. I have stopped in synching and backing up, and my files are no longer showing in Dropbox, but my folders; Desktop, Documents, etc are no longer visible in Finder and other odd things are happening, i.e. I cannot attach a file, because it does not show me what is on my Desktop, only what is listed in Finder which are two USBs, the hard drive, external back-up etc.
I want to delete Dropbox and return to how my Mac was before downloading it. Very worried that I've lost files. Any help really appreciated.

Hey @Sully1, thanks for joining our Community!
Can you please confirm that you still see your desktop files in your Dropbox folder, in the 'My Mac (computer name)' folder?
If so, after making sure you disabled the computer backup feature, you can manually just move your desktop folders back to their original locations.
Let me know if you need anything else!

Hi Lori
I did disable back-up and opted to keep folders on Mac. There are some that look corrupted.
In response to Hannah, they aren't in the Trash, can see some that were deleted in Dropbox. All I can see in Dropbox is this: { } .Media Preference.plist.
This is very stressful and I have been asking for help for a week. Can you please help me resolve this as soon as possible so I can delete Dropbox.
