How do I leave a shared Dropbox folder?
My friend invited me to share a 3gb folder she had. I accepted. Now I want to leave the folder and cant. I followed the advice from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZoTpNkvPCI
The problem is that...
- 7 years agoHey Padidto5,To remove yourself from the shared folder while you’re a member, try doing so from the website:
- Sign in to the website.
- Click Files.
- Navigate to the shared folder you want to permanently remove from your Dropbox account.
- Select the Share button that should appear next to the folder when you hover over it.
- Find your name under the list of emails.
- Click on the Can view/Can edit that’s next to your name.
- Select Remove my access.
If you’re not seeing this option or you’re still having trouble with this, let me know.

The only options under the Share button are:
- Invite via email
- Add to Trello
There are 13 members on this folder and I'd really prefer not to contact the owner of the folder if possible. Thanks.

You can remove a shared file or folder from your account from your Sharing page. Click the three dots next to a file or folder and you'll see an option to remove it.

That option is not there. I can share, copy, open, download, etc. if i click on share following the other instructions given in pass questions, i get "share with dropbox" or "send a copy". I can't delete either since i don't own the file.

Then it's not a shared file/folder but a regular file/folder in your account. If you simply chose to download it or save it to your Dropbox, there's no connection back to the original owner.
