This is a new PC (Win11 Home) and I've installed the Dropbox client (191.4.4995) and then used Selective Sync to limit what is to be downloaded for offline use.
My account is Dropbox Plus (2TB).
I have "Save Harddrive Space Automatically" = Off, so all folders selected should download 100% for offline use.
Sync status shows "Up to date". If I select another folder in Selective Sync, it quickly "updates" but nothing is downloaded but the folder structure.
Windows Firewall rules for Dropbox (C:\Program Files (x86)\Dropbox\Client\Dropbox.exe) are:
- Inbound; All profiles; ports 17600, 17603, 80, 8080, 443; protocol TCP
- Inbound, All profiles; ports 17600, 17603, 80, 8080, 443; protocol UDP
- Inbound; Domain profile; any ports; protocol TCP
- Inbound; Domain profile; any ports; protocol UDP
- Outbound - no rules
The Dropbox path is D:\Dropbox. I have done nothing special for permissions to this path.
How do I get the files to download??
Hi @torrmundi! Thanks for posting on the forum.
Can you clarify what’s the approximate size of a folder you’re now selecting via your selective sync settings?
Also, what’s the remaining available space on your D drive?
Have you quit - relaunched the Dropbox app, and double checked that your folder is still selected in the selective sync preferences?
Feel free to send me a couple of screenshots too, if you wish.
Keep me posted for more updates.

I think they ranged from <100MB to over 100GB.
853GB free space on 😧
One folder (>100GB) did not remain selected. Or did I not confirm the change? Hard to know after the fact!
I just reselected the 100GB folder and confirmed. Now I see 18,000 files are downloading. I guess that's working.
An older, almost 200GB folder seems to be now downloaded. I guess a watched pot never boils?
I have restarted the PC several times.
Hi @torrmundi, it can take time for the request for files to made offline if there are a lot of files in the folder. It can be a matter of waiting for the process to complete itself.

Yes, true enough. But one very misleading thing for me is that the Sync History does not show anything regarding storing all those files locally. 100's of GB of transfers are literally not shown.
