Hey @samanthahollyphotography, thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

If you'd like to make up some disc space on your hard drive while using our desktop app, you can use our selective sync and/or Smart Sync features. 

If you'd like to turn off syncing, you can pause or quit the app. To completely turn off syncing, you can uninstall it and use only the website to access your files.
