Can the tags be transferred, when I copy the tagged files?

If I tag files and then copy those tagged files to another folder, is there a way to have the tags travel with the files, so that I don't have to re-tag everything? I don't see the tags after I copy the files.

Thx.

Hey @1Biscuit, welcome to the Dropbox Community!

When a file gets copied, it's actually considered as a brand new file.

That's why the tags don't transfer along with it.

We appreciate your feedback, however, and I will make sure that it's passed along to our team.

If you have any other questions, let us know!

We are encountering a similar issue - we want to reorganize all our material but still have the legacy folder structure for team members who "know where they filed stuff." If it is more important to you to have the tags or comments with the files in your new location, but you also want at least a copy of the files (even without the tags or comments) in the original location, then the best option seems to be to first move the files to the new location, then copy them back to the original location. Moving preserves the tags and comments while copying does not. Hopefully Dropbox will add the option to Copy with All File Information.
