Hey @nadavz123, welcome aboard the Dropbox Community!

Downgrading your account wouldn't cause any files to get deleted. You'd only go overquota and stop syncing.

Do you see anything related to these files in your events page?

Keep me posted!

Hi @nadavz123, if you're not seeing the missing files on the events page or the deleted files page, then there's a few possibilities as to why this might be the case:

  • The files are on another Dropbox account
  • They were on a shared folder you don't have access to any more
  • The files were deleted outside of the 30 day period
  • The files were permanently deleted
I'd first check to ensure this is the same account you previously uploaded those files to. You can also see if there are any shared folders you haven't added to your account from here.

thank you!

i have another thought - since these were shared folders, someone might have deleted the files from it. is there a way for me as an owner to see who did it?

Yes, it would be possible, though the events page should show the deletion, however, since the file isn't there it wouldn't appear with the details.

If you were able to recover a file, then the version history of the file would show which user and device deleted the file.
