It’s right there in the headline.

 

And this is less of an “Idea” than it is baseline, expected behavior that is missing from this integration.

 

The current implementation is useless, because it always forces the user to open in web, then save a duplicate. You can see that this might run counter to the WHOLE IDEA of a sync-and-share platform.

Could you clarify exactly how you would like this feature to work in order to understand it in more detail?

  • A team is sharing a folder via Dropbox.
  • There is a related Slack channel, and a team member wants to flag a specific file for review.
  • They copy/paste a Dropbox link into the Slack channel.
  • When other team members click on the link, it opens to a web view of the file, which has no bearing on anything.

Anyhow, what it *should* do is either open the file in its native app (or present “Open in…” options),  or open the Finder/Explorer to the file’s location — they are already sharing it, after all.
