I cannot access my dropbox as the email I used no longer exists

I cannot access my dropbox as the email I used no longer exists

I can't login as I can't access my email address linked with dropbox, because it no longer exists.

Can I check if the email even has a Dropbox account still as its fairly old. I have tried in vain to open a ticket for support with a Dropbox account I have set up via a free trial on Windows 10 but there seems to be no way actually starting a "support ticket". I read

"To do so, please submit a help request from this page, via an incognito window (so you're signed out of Dropbox)." .. Tried it and there is no way I can open a support ticket the dropbox catbot doesnt even know what a support ticket is !!! How is that even possible ha ha. It would be a very good help if I could at least find out if the email even has an account so i can stop racking my brain about what data I might have lost

There's no option to check if an account esists. If you had access to the email you could attempt a password reset, which would send an email to the address on file if the account exists, but that's obviously not an option for you. Also, if the account has been idle for more than a year, it's likely that it was deleted due to inactivity.

Without access to the email address, there's no way to gain access to the Dropbox account. Perhaps you can contact the email provider and ask that the email address be reinstated, at least temporarily.

Help! I have a dropbox account with an old email address I no longer have access to. I remember the password but it's invalid for 'security' reasons. I can't reset it because I can't access the old email address. How do I change the email address for the old account when I can't access it? Thanks!!

Simply put I'm afraid you cannot.

Without access to the email, or an already logged in device, there is no way to regain access.

Also depending upon how old it is you may find its been wiped (12 months of inactivity causes accounts to be removed)

Can't login to my account and can't reset the password, because I no longer have access to the email

Hello.

I have a dropbox account (another one than this). I made it years ago and used an email that I used for my choir. This email belonged to a website that was closed down years ago. Now suddenly I can't log in. It has worked all the time until today.

What can I do? I cant reset password if that should be the case.

Hope for help.

Why can't you sign in? What error are you receiving?

If you've forgotten the password you won't be able to reset it without access to the email address on your account. If the password has expired there's a chance that Support can help, but in most cases you need access to the email address, or access to another device already signed in, in order to gain access to a Dropbox account.

Logged in // Cannot change password // Account email invalid

Hi,

My Dropbox account is connected to an email that is no longer valid and I have forgotten the password - however, I am luckily logged in via my laptop browser.

Dropbox will not allow me to update my password while logged in - the support page steps don't work as explained and I cannot reset the password to an invalid email address.

Can anyone help on how to reset the password while logged in? Or altnatively, how to create a new account and merge the files without being logged out.

Thank you, Nick

Without access to the email address on your account, there's no way to change your password. Dropbox will send a message to the email address on your account to verify the change. You also can't change your email address without a valid password.

Your best bet will be to contact your email provider and see if they can reinstate your email account, or at least forward you any reset information received.
