Hi,

 

looking in vain for DB info on how to update login info with new email - before being logged in, since you can't log in with new email

("The key to the locked box is in the box" won't help).

Email address effectively updated.

Are you trying to change your email without being able to access the Dropbox account itself?

Are you referring to the account you're using currently to post on the forum?

Hi,

 

yes, I am referring to my present account.

I have changed email provider, and so I now have a new email address (*@google.com).

 

I am able to access my account by entering my old email address (*@frisurf.no) in the login dialogue box.

 

I guess this means I can find some "settings" menu where I can change my e-address once logged in to Dropbox.

 

The problem is one of documentation - I could not find any informationon how to do this anywhere.

There is lots of information on how to change user name etc., but nothing on changing address.

I was just foreseeing some problems (which may not exist).

I am receiving an error message when I try to update my email address. The message states my new email is already taken?? Yes the email is taken my me? my current email is @yahoo and my new email is @Gmail. not sure how to get this updated?

Hey @EAG1, thanks for joining the discussion here.

 

I just wanted to clarify that the message you're getting means that there's already a Dropbox account under the email address you're trying to use. That's why you're not allowed to change your current account's email address to that one. 

 

Have you tried logging into that account instead? 

 

In case you've forgotten that account's password, you can reset it from this page
