273 TopicsDisplay correct folder size
When I let display the folder size, sizes are displayed with a ">" (greater as) sign in front. This is no useful information. For example, the first folder is displayed with "> 599,02 MB", but in reality it is 1,74 GB! Searching folders for missing space gets difficult.6Views0likes0CommentsDropbox search is broken and it doesn't show the correct results.
I have uploaded a folder directly of files, where (public domain) books are organized in folders by author, and then as files for each book. I had evidence that a certain quote existed in the folder directory for a certain author. Emphases added for point of discussion later: The gulf which has long yawned between employers and employed is widening; and the distance between the avenues and the tenement houses is constantly becoming greater." đ When I search for âavenuesâ, I first find the right book (file), and then within the file I find the specific paragraph. đĄ When I search for âtenementâ, Dropbox tells me there is no such text in the directory. (I have since downloaded this plain text file, and Microsoft Word can find it easily). This has happened a couple of times, where I have evidence a quote exists, and I search using the Dropbox system, and it doesnât find it. My very vague impression is that this is a new behavior? đĄ When I search for âemployerâ, Dropbox gives me all sorts of files, specifically highlighting in several of the cases that it has found âemploymentâ. This is completely unacceptable, and if you are doing soft searches, it only wastes your CPU cycles. I have screen-grab proof of all of the above, if it helps to see.28Views1like4CommentsCan I restore deleted files to a different folder of my choice?
The Dropbox Community "process" is flawed, with difficult to assist support (or almost non-existent)...how is it that a simple easy request is so crazily misinterpreted or unresolvable? Situation: Me: I'd like to recover deleted items from Dropbox, but I'd like to recover them to a specific folder so as not to integrate into my normal Dropbox files, how? (I do not want then to go back to locations that I need to verify why they were deleted in the 1st place) AI Reply: As I understand, you'd like to recover some deleted files but not have them recovered in the location from which they were deleted. Me: Correct. Me: I'd like to create a folder called "Recovered from Deletion" and have them go there. (I do not want then to go back to locations that I need to verify why they were deleted in the 1st place) AI: That's not something that can be done from your end or mine in this case. Huh??????????????????????? So, I can recover 140,000+ files, have them intertwine and mix with possible duplicate data, and I have no way to sift though 140,000 file to verify the deletions?22Views0likes2CommentsDropbox website is freezing when accessing through Firefox and Safari
Hi, Logged in to my Dropbox account via browser this morning and was hoping to create a Link to share the contents of a folder created yesterday. Dropbox appears to freeze immediately after clicking on the Create Link icon. If I click the icon a second time the browser displays the message "This page is slowing down Firefox. To speed up your browser, stop this page." with a Stop button beside the message. This also happens whenever I click any of the other button like Create folder etc. This happens when I have selected "All Folders" and want to create a new folder and when I have selected the folder I created yesterday. If I select a folder created prior to yesterday, I am able to create the required Link and Create Folders within the selected folder. It happens regardless of which browser I am using (Firefox and Safari). Something is not right somewhere. Anyone else having this or similar problems?Solved46Views0likes6CommentsScreen after opening the app on the tablet
I know they will not do anything about it, I am not naive. I just find it ridiculous with their automated replies... I don't know how it is for others, but Dropbox is a Cloud service last time I checked...I want to see my files, nothing else, my own files in my folders, not a nonsense ideas menu or whatever they are forcing me. I am a simple man, I open the app and I want to open the file I saved there, end of the story... Same for the browser version of Dropbox, too many useless annoying design fails that are in the way of my folders7Views0likes0CommentsVisualize Dropbox Space: A Treemap View for Smarter Storage Management
We often need to know what our Dropbox space is being used by. What if we could see it, visually and intuitively? Iâm proposing a new Dropbox feature inspired by tools like SpaceMonger: a visual storage map that shows your entire Dropbox as a treemap of nested rectangles, each one sized in proportion to the space it consumes. Folders would be represented as boxes within boxes, giving you an immediate sense of which areas are taking up the most room. This birdâs-eye view would make it dramatically easier to identify storage hogs, clean up unneeded files, and make informed decisions about organizing or upgrading your storage. Integrated directly into the Dropbox web interface, it would be a natural, powerful addition for users who care about managing space efficiently, whether you're close to your storage limit or just trying to be informed and strategic on how you use it. Of course, the particulars of the UI/UX could be debated by your experts, but the gist is that an intuitive visual representation of our subscriptions' allocated space and how it is being used would be a tremendous addition to the platform. My C drive is very full, but my D drive is very empty, so I'm trying to move the Dropbox folder to D drive where there is ample room. I'm following the instructions given (go to sync, scroll to move, select the new location) but I repeatedly get the error message that "the folder cannot be moved. Close open files and try again or try a new location." I have already closed all open files, I have paused syncing. There is ample room on the new drive. I have tried a different location to my preferred one. Nothing works, the error message just repeats. There are shared folders within the main Dropbox folder--would they be causing the issue, if another user had them open? I am running Windows 10 and have a Dropbox Plus account. Any suggestions? Thank you.108Views1like13CommentsBeing asked to upgrade for more storage to upload when my client is already paying for the Dropbox.
I am being asked to upgrade my account, when my client has upgraded the storage to a significant amount. 2TB or something. There is lots of space in the dropbox. Do I have to upgrade to upload as well when the space has already been paid for? Thanks18Views0likes1CommentPersonal Folders for users in Dropbox teams
To better structure our business account's content, I would like to be able to aggregate all of the user's personal folders into one location/folder. This would allow for better control and oversight while also complying with our company structure.39Views0likes2Comments
