Hi For the last few days my offline files have been unavailable in my IOS apps (iphone and ipad). Every time I try to access them I get the yellow triangle saying refresh update. I connect to wifi and do this however the yellow triangle stays and when I go to the folders in offline mode they are all empty. I have tried removing the offline files, clearing cache and redownloading but still with the same result. The reason I want to have offline files is so I can use them while I am offline, but the constant need to update or sync them makes it necessary to always be online, which is not always possible eg when travelling. I have updated to the latest version 424.2 and it was working fine for about a day but now it's happening again. Is there any other setting I can try for this?29Views0likes3Comments"There was an issue communicating with your photo library" when uploading photos on iOS
Hi, I have always been able to upload my photos from my iPhone to the Dropbox app. Over the past several months it has been working. I am getting an error message - There was an issue communication with your photo library. I have already deleted the app and reinstalled it twice. I have restarted my phone and turned my wifi on and off. Any other things I should try? Thank you!28Views0likes2CommentsPop-up message that someone shared a link with me on the mobile app on both iOS and Android
Hi Hannah I find this post, once I have the same error: "Shared link Soraia [removed] shared ___img245 (37).jpg with you" I don't even know anyone named Soraia. 😅 Also "Dismiss" or "View" buttons and clear cache and history doesn't work. What's the solution? iPhone 13 iOS 18.4 Dropbox 422.2.2 (2/3 devices) But this problem still happen if Install in other iPhone/iOS/Android versions.51Views0likes7CommentsThe Dropbox app is taking up a lot of space on my iOS devices when no files are available offline
To summarize, MANY people have seen extreme storage usage from the iOS and iPadOS Dropbox apps, even when all files are set to online-only. Currently, my iPad Dropbox app is using 32GB of space when I have zero files offline. I have tried using the "clear cache" feature for many years and it does absolutely nothing. Posts regarding storage not recovering on iOS and iPadOS go back 3-4 years and it seems that the developers are not concerned with it. Uninstalling and reinstalling an app because of poor development is piss poor to say the least and it doesn't make Dropbox look very professional. When is Dropbox going to get their development in order and fix this? My God, it's been years and nothing has been done. What's the deal? Seriously. Are you just happy collecting money at this point? Signed - a long-time Dropbox user that is getting annoyed by your incompetence.32Views0likes1CommentCan't open audio files on the Dropbox mobile app on iOS
I know there’s stuff going back a decade about how Dropbox needs third party apps to play audio files, but I’ve never had a problem until today. I’ve been using it for years on my iPhone to play MP3 and WAV files. It stopped working today and I can’t figure out why. I just get a message that says it can’t load the file. Any idea what may have changed?Any way to allow the iPad's screen to shut off when a file is displayed in the Dropbox app?
Hi, I just came home from work to discover my ipad screen still on, 9 hours after I left it. I realised that when the dropbox app is open, and a document is being displayed (full screen or not), the screen timeout (to save battery life) does not function. On my android phone the screen shuts off as per system power saving settings as expected. Is there a way to allow the ipad screen to shut off to save battery when dropbox is displaying a pdf or someother document? I can't imagine anyone would want it to stay on permanently. Thanks Jon59Views0likes5CommentsCan we upload live photos through Camera Uploads?
I can see lots of posts asking for support for Live Photos. I feel quite cheated that I have lost the ability to see these photos. As someone else has also posted, I have little snippets of my mother’s voice and movement that I have lost forever and she has passed away. Dropbox offer a photo sync service which means they need to solve for Live Photos, they have been around since 2015 so it’s not a new function. Please prioritise a solution to upload and then restore Live Photos.Solved860Views2likes6CommentsCan deleted photos be retrieved from Deleted Files?
3 days ago I deleted some individual in-named, un-filed single iPhone uploaded pictures. A few minutes ago I tried retrieving some from the deleted files section and after adjusting the filters, nothing came up. (1)Is there a grace period for retrieving? (2)Are deleted files the only items retrievable and not individual un-filed pictures? I’m a bit confused as to (3)what the difference between files and phone uploads and camera uploads are other than the obvious, deleting un-filed un-named singles individually to files having a name, files holding multiple pictures and ability to delete a whole file with pics all at once. (5)But with it being called “ Deleted Files”, are they all considered the same when deleting and retrieving them? It seems that Dropbox puts all my uploaded unfiled and un-named singles under camera uploads or phone uploads, (6)which I suppose, they could be considered pre-named Dropbox files (7)Not sure if I can delete pictures as a whole from these (files?) (8)because when opened, the two prenamed dropbox file formats look different than that of a file I named. (9)Dropbox’s Camera uploads and Phone uploads (files?) would make more sense to me if i uploaded photos with a secondary device like a Nikon camera or…..a Cannon. But all my Dropbox photo uploads are sourced from my iPhone camera. So that too is a bit confusing because I don’t choose where my singles go. They just go. Sometimes they go to both prenamed Dropbox (files?) I’ve had Dropbox for 10 years. I have the iOS widget set up with different buttons for scan, upload file/photo, and record. But when I tap on any of them, all they do is open the dropbox app. They used to take me directly to their associated function. I have tried adding/removing the widget, reinstalling the app, and restarting my phone. Any ideas what to do? iPhone 16 iOS version 18.3.2 App version 420.2.2 Dropbox Basic49Views0likes4Comments
