The Dropbox web site offers the ability to disable comments on files. You can find information on that here.
The Dropbox API unfortunately does not offer this ability, but I'll pass this along as a feature request. I can't promise if or when that might be implemented though.

That's what I was afraid of. It's unfortunate that the API does not allow this, but what about with the GUI in the browser or the app? Is there no way to disable comments for an entire directory or folder or to select and edit many files and their comment preferences at once via the graphical interface?
I'll have to either write a script to interact with the interface to go one by one and disable comments for each file, if that is even possible without timeouts or interrupts... or jump ship to a new platform entirely. I'm not going to sit and disable comments on thousands of files individually.
