Dropbox edge network PoP select problem

It is so strange that the Dropbox route chooses the wrong PoP.

I have two servers now, one is in LA and the other is in SJ. The LA server does not select the LAX edge but chooses the DFW. The SJ server does not select the SJC edge but chooses the LAX. It increases the latency by a lot.

As shown in the dropbox-debug.com . It never chooses the correct edge which should minimize the latency.

I also use a testing program to test API call latency and get a similar result.

Is there any way to manually select the edge? I know I can build a peering network but that may take a bit of work.

  • I solved it. Simply change the DNS server from 8.8.8.8 to 1.1.1.1
