Can not overwrite file in DropBox
We use DropBox and used to be able to overwrite old versions. That is no longer possible. I am on a Mac 10.13. Did the "replace" option go away?

The key, I believe, is that you have to work in the linked Dropbox file. You can't download, work on it and replace the file. You have to work in the file from DropBox and it saves as you go.
When you want to edit the file click on "open with" on right hand side. This keeps the file linked and it is auto saved.

Thank you Sharonatordoff,
the point is not the link.
We cannot change the file online. Is a big file, with more than 1000 lines.
Every day we generate a new one, with same name, and extension. Until a couple of weeks ago, every morning we used to generate a new file that simply overighting the online version.
If there are no changes in the name or in the extensions, or position, there is no necessity to generate a new link.
Things had work perfectly for more than one year.
Now, when we load the new file online, we can see the dialog bar, in the bottom of the page that indicates the upload, and at the end, says that the file has been uploaded, but the date of the last change, remains stationary, and file, does not update.
We also have checked the file online, and it is not the new one.
The screenshot regarding a file that I have just uploaded, 11/02/2019 h. 14:55.
Thank you.

7 years agoOut of curiosity, have you tried other browsers, an incognito window or clearing your browser's cache lately InOutstore?
PS: I just installed the next build on my Chrome (currently 72.0.3626.97) as I was also having browser issues and things have returned to normal so updating your browse might be worth a shot as well in this case.

Hi Walter,
thank you for your suggestions.
we just tried with I.E. 11 and Mozzilla Firefox 64.0, same result, the file online is not overwritten. This morning I had the same tought, and updated Chrome to 72.0.3626.96 version: this is the last version that we have available, here.
Other attempts without result:
Incognito browser: done
Cleare cache: done
Thank you

Hi Walter,
daily update:
yesterday in the morning I have successfully overwrite the file. This morning, the procedure didn't work.
Are you able to see our contact informations? Is it safe post here the email address or there is another way?
Thanks

@walter - I am having a similar problem trying to download a .csv from firefox from a web portal and save it on top of existing file in my dropbox folder on disc. If I do this the download fails in firefox. If I save with a different name it works. If I save it to a non dropbox directory it works whether I am overwritting or not. If I open the download file and save as csv replacing the file in dropbox it works.
I cleared my firefox cache and it didnt work. Chrome doesnt allow a file save to, other than download folder. So I am hoping you can offer some suggestions. Please advise. tks Tony

Hey there tgiordano, apologies for the delayed reply here!
It sounds like you're having a little bit of a different issue here. Could you let me know if you're getting the same error when saving to the Dropbox folder and the desktop app isn't running on your computer?
You can close the app by:
- Clicking the Dropbox icon in your system tray/menu bar.
- Click the profile pic/initials icon in the top right of the window.
- Choose "Quit Dropbox".
Also, do you usually get the error regardless of whether the file in the Dropbox folder that you want to overwrite is syncing or up to date? Or is this only when the file is syncing?
Keep me posted!
