I would like some more information about sharing files with Dropbox
Hello all!
I'm semi new to Dropbox. I've used it to receive and share documetns, but not to its full extent. If somene can assist me that would be appreciated!
I am currently using google docs to share with a large group and have set it so that it is "restricted" and I need to approve who can view it, however, the issue is that some people may not have a gmail and therefore cannot access the document without first creating a google account. With Dropbox, i noticed there's a similar document that I can share with people and hoping this would be a better solution.
So my questions are:
- If I share a document, does the other person need to have a dropbox account to access it?
- How can I set it so that only people I invite can view it & preventing it from being shared with anyone else? I dont want it accessible to people who havent been invited to view the document.
- Same idea as how to share a link to a file or document?
- How do i do the same for a file?
I believe I have the non-paid version of DropBox.
Thank you in advance!

Hi nvilla, thanks for posting today!
Just for clarification, are you referring to the Dropbox Paper feature, which is a document which can be edited by other users, or by sharing Microsoft documents, or something else?
This will help me provide more accurate information for your requirements!

nvilla When you share a Paper document with someone who doesn’t already have a Dropbox account, they’ll get an email containing a link to sign up. After creating their account, they’ll be able to open and view your Paper document.
You can access the Dropbox Paper FAQ here if you have more questions (or just ask me!)
