Retain Vault!
There are so many reasons to continue Vault but a key one is that the Dropbox folder on a PC (and a Mac?) is not protected by Windows or iOs in any normal way. Vault made protection possible for key ...

Hey guys!
Thanks for showing your interest in Dropbox Vault.
To concentrate our efforts on further improving our existing security features and building new capabilities around advanced data protection, weâve made the decision to discontinue Dropbox Vault.
From March 4th Dropbox Vault will no longer be available. If youâre currently using your Vault, that folder will automatically turn into a standard Dropbox folder, that doesnât require a PIN to access. The files in your folder will remain the same.
However, Dropbox is steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding your data.
Our applications and infrastructure are regularly tested for security vulnerabilities, and hardened to enhance security and protect against attacks.
There are also steps that you can take to enhance the security of your account.
These steps include:
- Setting up 2-step authentication
- Creating a strong password
- Conducting a security checkup
- Protecting shared files and folders with passwords
I hope this clarifies!

Totally agree! So when vault goes away and becomes a regular folder. The contents are not protected anymore? Ya, if we have to set up a security pin or whatever for the vault files, do we need to do so for the other files?
We need to have the next few years at a discounted price, i.e. the price we paid before the extra cost of putting in the vault app.
Or, maybe money back on our subscription.
Definitely a bad move, especially since no clear explanations as to why.

I totally agree. Last minute notice. Inconvenience to find and likely have to pay for more security. I canât imagine the amount of effort that will be required for small businesses and power users to find and pay for another secure source and move all their files. Not to mention all the shared filesâŠ. now that everyone has to be notified. This is an incredible amount of work. People will have to look for new subscriptions and buy drives to protect their data. How and who will be moving these protected folders without now having the ability to gain access while doing it? Who is going to pay for that? Compensation and/or discount is due! Not even a clear plan of how they intend to improve security. So frustrated with the canned replies.đĄ
