I get a "Dropbox not granted permission to install launcher shortcut" error on Android 16.
Application Affected
Dropbox
Device
Pixel 10 pro xl
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
16
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
version 452.2.2
Question or Issue
When I try to create a shortcut on android I get this error message "Dropbox not granted permission to install launcher shortcut".
Yeah I did and it didn't help. But I actually figured out the issue yesterday. For some reason I didn't have a default launcher selected. Pixel launcher was my launcher and worked fine but it wasn't selected as the default. No launcher was. Once I selected it, it started working fine.

Hi mntgoat! Thanks for your post.
Youâre following these steps to create a Dropbox folder shortcut, correct?
Have you restarted your Android device in the meantime and you still see the same thing?
If yes, I'd like you to send me a screenshot of the error, to have a visual.
Keep me updated.

Yes I am following those steps. I tried it on other phones and it works fine there. Just not this one. I've restarted, reinstalled the app, last night updated android, nothing helps.

Hi mntgoat, just to clarify, did you do the following steps in this order?
- Uninstalling the app
- Rebooting the device
- Re-installing the mobile app
This will help me to assist further! - mntgoat1 month agoNew member | Level 2
