Quick Ideas for Freeing Up Space

For users who find themselves in a bind and need a QUICK FIX on how to quickly reduce files in order to stay under their storage quota, here are some ideas:

  3. Sort files by size and move the largest files to your local hard drive

    For step 3 I find it especially useful to use tools such as WinDirStat (Windows), a free tool which gives a visual representation of the contents of a folder: I set it to scan the Dropbox folder and can see in a few instants which are the largest files, the largest clusters with the same type, and more.

     

    It's definitely quicker than manually going through the folders and never quite finding the items you can remove from syncing.
