Allow us to show/hide sidebar items on the website
I love new features, don't get me wrong, but not at the cost of them cluttering up the UI with features I rarely (or never) use. The sidebar on the web keeps growing with no way to tame it. How about implementing a Gmail-style menu system where you can bury menu items you don't want to see, but can still access if need-be... this way the UI can be more tuned to how an individual uses it?

I can't even see the name of the files on the web version because the useless side bars take up so much space.

Agreed. Allow users to hide the two sidebars. They are just wasting space, preventing us from seeing OUR items. We don't care about all those 'special' tools. If we can hide them, we can also bring them back when and IF we ever do need them.
Please add the option for us to hide them. I spend so much time swearing at the system trying to SEE my content and then remembering there STILL is no way. Modernize, please! - Paul S.185 years agoExplorer | Level 4
Please remove both sidebars or allow me the option to remove them in my Dropbox. They take up way too much screen space and I never use the features in either sidebar. I see this issue has been commented on since 2015! Please listen to your client/customers and correct the issue. Thank you.

It's really time consuming whenever I open a pdf file, I have to click and close sidebar in order to see my file on entire screen. I see that request is from 2015. I'm sure that you can make something about it and it's not super expencieve feature request. [dropbox browser version]

Agree with original poster "Mawthra" -- I pay for Dropbox and use it for personal storage, not as a collaborative platform. It would be SO GREAT if the sidebar that pops up on opening a file every single time could be an optional view setting. It's really, really annoying to have to click ->| to minimize it every. single. time.
Halp. Please.

The sidebar should by default be minimized. Please let us know if you plan to address this issue. Thank you.

I got here because I am trying to figure out how to hide the sidebars in the desktop client. So cluttered!

Please help! When I have a split screen, I cannot see the file titles as the two sidebars take up all the space!! [see below]
Please add a way to minimise the:
- Left bar (Files)
- Right bar (file preview and details)
All google facilities have the Hamburger icon which allows you to minimise them. Thanks

The sidebar on the right is not only completely useless but it requires you to constantly hit minimize in order to view the pages.
What a nightmare. You have got to get rid of that thing! Whoever thought it was ok to take up 1/3 of the page?
This is ridiculous.

In addition to minimize the left and right column (the right column could also be in top menu - maybe with just icons);
I just filed with support the request to expand the view of the file name itself. It is the heart of why I have Dropbox: for files.
Presently my wide 13" MacBookPro has a screen width of almost Landscape A4 (29cm). And for the filename there's no more space than let's say 5-6 cm.
As a consequence the file name gets partially displayed and I need to hover over them in order to see what file it actually is.
So my request is to have the full file name displayed.
