Thanks for using Dropbox! Here are the user-visible changes in v94:
  • Fixed an issue where newly added or edited files were not reinheriting permissions of their parent folders on Windows

Did that feature definitely make it in? I never tried the beta (one person in the other thread said the beta worked), but this stable version doesn't seem to have that fix.

Can anyone confirm?

BTW, don't forget to undo the .dropbox.cache workaround or your results will be skewed.

It's is present and working for me. I just removed my schedule tasks that were performing the corrections.

Interesting. I guess there's some variability in this in terms of how permissions are setup, what we're testing specifically, etc. It's going to be difficult to compare.

try this

Create a new folder named  dropbox\permtest

Add a explict permission to the folder for "EVERYONE" to have Read & Execute

Go to the web interface and drop a file into the folder

Go to the folder and check the permissions on the file

Does it have the "EVERYONE" permission?

No...but that led me to discovering why, so thank-you.

After seeing that it didn't work, I went to dropbox.exe, Properties, so that I could take a screenshot to post here and prove that I was on the right version. To my horror, it read 93.4.273. And that's on two systems, not a fluke.

So, I went to my browser history in each case (showing missing because it had been deleted afterwards):

Capture.JPG

I right-clicked that to reveal the download link that I used:

https://www.dropbox.com/downloading?build=94.4.384&plat=win&type=full

Which is the one straight out of the Desktop Client Builds thread. Yesterday, at least, it directed me to the old version. I remember this happening once last year, too. Very tricky.

I'll try the actual new version shortly. I'm sure it will be fine.

Re: Stable Build 94.4.384 - Had to roll back to stable Build 92.4.382 to complete indexing.

Hi, Unfortunately, I rolled back to stable build 92.4.382 because it wouldn't complete indexing of all files. It was stuck on 20 files indexing, I attempted several methods to try and resolve the issue but nothing worked other than this.

That wast open files was it? One of mine never drops below 44 files as 44 files are always open excusive so cant be read by the time DB gets going.

Hi guys, we are new to dropbox business, and we downloaded this build as the first one on our macs but we are only getting dropbox in finder and on top on the menu bar. we cannot see the "dropbox spaces" or the new client that is anywhere... dropbox is working fine, syncing greatly, but we are very interested in the desktop client which is no where to be found. we downloaded on several machines, macs and windows and same issue.

appreciate it
