Be able to change Dropbox backup folders names

Be able to change Dropbox backup folders names

Add possibility of rename Backup folders. If you have only one computer, it go fine, but if you have more than one, it ends being very confussing. Due iCloud Drive issues, I've changed all of my Macs "synchronized" Desktop and Documents to Dropbox. However, take a look to the picture:

It is very difficult to guess what is what. With the possibility to rename them, I could have named "My iMac", "My MBP 13", "My MBP 15". Very easy to see what is what.

(As a workaround, we can change to detail view, but could be more easy for all of us be able to change the names).

Hi all, I just wanted to let you know that the team is working on this idea!

Some backups and backup folders are currently able to be renamed, and we are working to upgrade all backups to have similar functionality

Thanks for sharing your suggestion with us and to everyone for supporting it.

How do we upvote this?. My family members have multiple pcs and are having to guess where documents etc are going. Much better to have jenny work pc, or Bernie play pc.

Super easy, let us rename computer backup folders. I do NOT want to use the folder names that are decided by Dropbox.

This is not a new problem. I have seen a lot of users complaining about this. Dropbox currently does not allow users to rename their backup folders. So, if you have more than one computer (like myself), the program automatically names it like Mac (1), Mac (2), Mac (n)... and so fourth. This is very annoying, because we want the freedom to name the backup in a way we can remember what machine each backup relates to. Please, fix this ASAP.

Everyone here in Dropbox Forum, please, upvote this idea in order to prioritize this feature (in fact, this is not my idea – I saw a lot of users saying about this in the forum, but it appears no one had posted on the idea board yet. If someone did, I apologize in advance for posting it again).

I was just trying to remove the backups of other computers from my laptop using selective sync, but it was very confusing because the folders are all called PC, PC (1), PC (2), etc.

I would like to be able to rename these for clarity of which is which, or perhaps they could just take the name of the computer from windows directly as I’ve named all my computers.

This would seem to be a pretty basic feature, and I'm not sure why it isn't. Like others, I would prefer not to have to remember PC, PC (2), PC (3), etc. I'm not sure why they can't at least use the name assigned to the computer. Since I'm new to Dropbox, I'm seriously re-thinking whether or not I'll continue after the 30-day free trial.

So, I now have three shared Windows desktops called PC, PC(2) and PC(3) and can't rename them to their PC names. Oh boy, what fun - this surely can't be right!

That said, the ability to actually have a shared, versioned desktop is wonderful!  Many thanks. Keep up the good work

It is ridiculous we even need to ask for this!!

That would be MUCH better: backed up folders should have the same name as the relevant PC. This would be much better than seeing "PC (2)", "PC (3)" and "PC (4)" in my Dropbox folder.
