Currently, Dropbox seems to be syncing continuously, i.e. as soon as it detects a change it will start to sync it. It would be great if you could set an interval for this. For example, if you'd set that interval to 10 minutes, Dropbox would only sync files to the cloud every 10 minutes. After that specific sync has completed, the interval of 10 minutes will start again (to prevent intervals from overlapping when syncing takes longer than the interval). Having an interval would lower the impact Dropbox has on your system, as it will be 'resting' during the interval period with very low CPU usage (I would assume, at least). Also, having an interval, should lower the chances of locking problems occuring between Dropbox and applications using the files in Dropbox.13Views0likes1CommentAllow us to drag and drop the Dropbox thumbnail for screenshots to any app (like macOS does).
Problem Dropbox’s screenshot pop‑up replaces macOS’s floating thumbnail but can’t be dragged into Messages, Slack, Finder, etc., forcing users to hunt for the file. Request Make the Dropbox thumbnail draggable to any app. After the drop, keep auto‑upload and markup intact. Why it matters Faster one‑step sharing, consistent with native macOS behavior, and fewer users disabling Dropbox screenshots.35Views1like1CommentEnable create and rename folders/files on MacOS Dropbox application for admin users
After a recent dropbox update, at the top level, admin users are unable to create and rename files on their desktop dropbox application for Mac users (OS version: Sequoia 15.3.2). This slight change has made it more of a hassle to use the desktop app, it makes it appear obsolete to be honest. My team needs a number of folders to created frequently as we get new cases quite frequently. After the new update, as the admin user, I have to navigate to my web browser in order to create a folder and then come back to my desktop app to add all the relevant documents into that folder. If I make a mistake in the name of the folder, I can't change the name of the folder I have to go back to web browser, find the folder and then change it from there. It is such that even as an admin user on my computer, when I go to unlock the folder at the top level to give me read and write access, it automatically switches back as it is something that has been enabled from the software and not the user end. I could see the justification for having this restriction for non-admin users but for admin users whose job description requires the creation and modification of top level files, it has added an additional step in work flow that is cumbersome. In the past, all these could be done directly from the desktop app. I would like to request that the feature be put back as it was. The new change is not user friendly at all.137Views3likes10CommentsCopying the Dropbox version info in the preferences window
The Dropbox VERSION info on the Preferences Window should be SELECTABLE and made so that I can COPY it into the System Clipboard so I don't have to manually enter it when submitting a request like this. Better yet, place a "copy" icon next to it that will copy it into the clipboard for you.101Views1like3CommentsDefault drive options
For Windows users, when installing Dropbox the user has no option but to allow DropBox to sync data with the C drive. Many Windows based PCs are now shipped with a smaller C drive (for apps) and a larger D drive (for data). Many folks also use external drives for data. Please give users the option to choose which drive they wish to sync with. I recently had to reset my PC. When I re-installed DropBox, I wasted about 2 hours syncing, resetting the default drive and re-syncing. Thanks, James859Views0likes5CommentsNotification/warning when closing a locked file
My idea is about locked files and the problem that people forget to unlock it after they're done working in it. To avoid that people forget to unlock a file after they close it, it would be nice that you get a warning about the file still being locked when you close it. (in the same way an application asks you if you want to save changes before closing it) This notification would avoid the problem that a file stays locked for hours or days without reason, just because someone forgot to unlock it.27Views0likes2CommentsMake Dropbox compatible with Linux on ARM processors.
Having Dropbox on Linux distros running on Arm processors would make a huge difference for people who own Raspberry Pis. Pi 5s have much more computing power than my cheep Ubuntu desktop that ran Dropbox ~15 years ago. I am highly considering making my main driver a Linux running on Arm device. If that happens, I'll have to reevaluate my cloud storage solution. I'm not opposed to compiling code from source if need be. But asking for source code (even just for the client side) seems like a harder battle than asking for binaries.26Views1like1Comment
