I'd like to receive real-time email notifications
Dear Forum Users, I am currently using a free Dropbox account for the purpose of testing. The objective of the overall exercise is to identify web-based solutions for the storage of and collaboration on documents of various standard file types (MS Office files, pdf files etc). I understand that in the notifications menu in Settings I can check the box for "Activity in shared folders (weekly digest)". This presumably means that once a week I get an email message describing what "happened" in shared folders (i.e., additions, revisions, deletions; additional users with access to the folder etc). My company is currently using Egnyte for sharing and jointly working on documents with clients. Egnyte offers the option of receiving updates of the type referred to above on a daily or even on a real-time basis. The real-time notifications have become an essential element of our workflows, so we would only consider switching to Dropbox if a paid Dropbox plan offered the same feature. I have noted that upon installing the desktop app it may be possible to receive notifications of the kind I am referring to although they would presumably not be sent / received via email. Unfortunately, relying on the use of the desktop app is not an option for us. The notifications about changes need to be sent by email and they need to work even if only the web-based version of Dropbox is used. If anyone knows whether any (and, if yes, which) paid Dropbox plan provides the exact functionality that I am looking for I would be grateful for a reply. From some brief research in the "help" section of the website, I note that the notification settings for Dropbox Paper are different / separate from the ones for the regular Dropbox. Ideally the answer would also describe which notifications (if any) are available for Dropbox Paper. From my research, I also note that the use of an additional third-party programme such as Growl or Zapier might make it possible to receive the kind of notifications that we are interested in. We would be happy to consider this option. The cost of additional app subscriptions is not a concern, but whatever we end up setting up has to absolutely, reliably work. Paper Older Version
Hi Folks, I have a problem. I am using Paper for a long time ago and recently some of my colleagues joined Paper I shared some folders with them but they are unable to do any edit in the folder and got this error "Can't select this folder because was created with an older version of Paper", after that I worked with their account. Find out their Paper is completely different and works differently, it's like a part of the main dropbox. Dropbox Paper frequently goes offline, while still connected to the internet.
Throughout the day, DB Paper will go offline for several minutes with the following message: "Connection lost. You'll be able to save edits when you go back online" followed by the next message, "Still offline. You'll be able to edit when you go back online. " I can work on every other website, and I'm still connected to the internet. In 2-3 minutes the message will go away, but as soon as I begin typing it will reappear and turn my edits gray. I'm then unable to edit for a few minutes. Per another user's post, I went into incognito mode and check my firewall settings, neither of which worked. "Migrated Paper Docs" folders are all empty
Looks like Dropbox ran their migration of paper.dropbox.com to their "Migrated Paper Docs" folder on my dropbox account. But when I go to the "Migrated Paper Docs" folder they created in my dropbox account, the folders I had in Paper seem to have been migrated, but they are all empty! And when I go to "paper.dropbox.com", it's empty with nothing. I had LOTS of document that I've stored for years here, did Dropbox just lose all my files? Dropbox Paper needs text color option
We've been using Dropbox Paper for a couple of years and love how easy it is to combine info/track/collaborate with our partners using this tool. However, we would LOVE to have the ability to change text color like many other apps already have in place. We are a creative team within a live events company, and being able to parse out info so it's easily scannable and matches with our color coding systems elsewhere would be huge. Paper: retain formatting when pasting text from RTF and TXT documents
Seriously, the only way I can get Paper to recognize my tabs and double returns is to paste from PROPRIETARY and EXPENSIVE software? I’ve tried BBEdit, (Apple) TextEdit (rtf and txt), Libre Office, and OpenOffice; when pasting from none of them will Paper behave like every other piece of word editing software since, oh, the 80s.
