Dropbox Passwords
79 TopicsHow to find and access Dropbox Passwords?
I am receiving messages that I must download my material in Dropbox Passwords, before it disappears on Oct. 28. . I do not even know if I have anything there, or how to find it. It is nowhere obvious on my computer. How do I recognize and locate the Dropbox Passwords extension, get into it, and see if there is anything I need to export before you eradicate it. I have a list of special words to use to access the Passwords, but I can't even find the Passwords extension. I'm trying to copy my password file/transfer/ convert to .csv file. Instructions are to go to extensions in the webpage (Crome, Google etc.) below is the roadblock that I get. If I keep going back and forth I will get locked out because it happened Sunday. So I'm still trying to meet the deadline of transferring my password before 10=28-25 when it will be deleted. Where ??? Check your other devices for a notification Let’s make sure it’s you and sync any passwords you already added. We’ll finish setting up after we get your approval on one of the following devices: Edge Windows, Edge Windows, and Edge Windows.54Views0likes1CommentMy password was changed by someone else
Ok, here is my story - looking for info and/or advice. My Xfinity email account has been hacked several times over the past year. The last time (5 months ago) and yesterday, the hackers were able to use the email account to gain access to my Dropbox account. Last time, I enabled 2-factor security in Dropbox with both a mobile authenticator app and physical security keys. Yesterday, my Dropbox password was hacked and changed... I knew it was happening because I was aware that my email was being hacked and was literally dealing with it as it was happening. I realized that my Dropbox password was changed and I immediately changed it again. I WAS asked for 2-factor verification using the mobile app. I might have been asked for the security key, too - I don't remember exactly as I was dealing with several things at once. Point is that I WAS asked for something 2-factor to authenticate and allow the password change to occur. What I find troubling is that "they" were able to change the password/gain access to my account with 2-factor in place... Isn't that the whole point of having 2-factor? A physical "key" which you must be in possession of in order to make certain changes to the account??? I chatted with Luis in Customer Support - absolutely NO HELP WHATSOEVER - basically stated "no idea how that happened" and said that the problem was probably my computer's security or that I had used public wifi... Public wifi never happened. I pressed him to escalate the case or forward it to a security team (does that even exist??). He asked to move the chat to email - I suspect as a way to get rid of me.. Any info / advice would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.Solved14KViews1like5CommentsCannot export passwords from Dropbox Passwords because of a comedy of errors
Device My PC, then Pixel 8 Pro, then iPad Pro (M1) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 / Mozilla Firefox, then Android 16, then iPadOS 17.0 Dropbox App Version/Browser Version Dropbox Passwords Extension v3.32.0, then Dropbox Passwords (Android) v278.23, then Dropbox Passwords (iOS/iPadOS) vSomething (I actually don't know how to get it to list the version on iPad) Question or Issue I cannot export a CSV from Dropbox Passwords because the extension won't open. I am clicking the button and it does nothing. Additionally, there is no option on Android to save the exported CSV to local storage (instead of a share sheet item), and the exported CSV had numerous errors that I had to fix manually before importing to 1Password. It is unethical to shut down a password manager in this horrendous state. I am aware that you have already disabled the extension. However, there is no way to launch the desktop UI anymore, which is necessary to export passwords. This prevents customers from offboarding Dropbox Passwords. Please restore enough of the Dropbox Passwords extension to allow users to download an unencrypted password export. The Android app's CSV export opens the share sheet, which on a fully updated Pixel 8 Pro does not allow me to store the shared CSV in local storage. The only options are to upload to cloud storage or e-mail it to myself, both of which are bad ideas that will likely result in unintended retention of unencrypted password dumps. The iPad version of Dropbox Passwords does not have this issue and can save to local storage without sending unencrypted data to the cloud, but you still need to advise people NOT to use the (default!!!) iCloud Drive save location. The CSV file export is not a valid CSV. When I import it into 1Password every line of every note of every item I import becomes a separate item with that line as the title and no contents. This is because your CSVs do not use a quotation mark as string delimiter for multi-line text fields, such as the notes column, at least not if they start with a newline. If the notes field has a single quote in it, it'll get wrapped up in double quotes, but not other fields, some of which do have single quotes. I am now manually fixing up a 596 line CSV file because of this.213Views0likes5CommentsHow can I check if I have a Dropbox Passwords account, before it's discontinued?
I got an email saying they are discontinuing Dropbox Passwords. How do I determine if I have it? As far as I know I don’t, but I want to be sure! If anyone can enlighten me as to how to find the app so I can search for it, I’ll sure appreciate it!!! Diana83Views0likes1CommentDropbox Passwords does not allow access due to device limit.
My laptop recently died, i can't connect to dropbox passwords because you're forcing me to upgrade rather than allowing me cancel the connection to the device that just died, since you're discontinuing the passwords and now autocomplete dosen't work anymore, can you remove the limitations in order to move all of my passwords. I was doing a gradual transition to a new password keeper provider, but now that my laptop died, can't access my passwords. ---------- [name] keep protecting your passwords You connected 3 devices or browsers to Passwords — that’s the limit on our free plan. I'm having the same problem that I had 2 years ago when trying to set up Dropbox Passwords on my Pixel 7 (ticket #23077274). I had to delete the app from my phone and am now trying to re-install it on the same phone. I am getting the same error message that I did before: Oops! An error has occurred, please try again later. I tried everything that was recommended before, including: uninstalled both Dropbox and Dropbox Passwords apps, then reinstalled cleared cache for Dropbox Passwords (then uninstalled Dropbox Passwords app and reinstalled) disconnected from Dropbox Passwords For Android under the security tab (then uninstalled Dropbox Passwords app and reinstalled) verified that only 2 devices (including this Pixel 7, as far as I can tell) are tied to my account Would love help getting this set back up again.325Views0likes11Comments
