Folders
24 TopicsRetain folder structure when using Camera Uploads on mobile app
Backing up photos on mobile dumps them all into one 'Camera Uploads' folder. The expected behavior is that the photos uploaded will stay in their own folders. This should at the very least be a toggle option. Every other Dropbox Backup solution retains folders, so why are photos any different? You even select the folders to upload from when setting this up, so the functionality is a step away. Pretty jarring UX from an otherwise great service.139Views5likes3CommentsA visual tree map for smarter storage management of a Dropbox folder structure
We often need to know what our Dropbox space is being used by. What if we could see it, visually and intuitively? I’m proposing a new Dropbox feature inspired by tools like SpaceMonger: a visual storage map that shows your entire Dropbox as a treemap of nested rectangles, each one sized in proportion to the space it consumes. Folders would be represented as boxes within boxes, giving you an immediate sense of which areas are taking up the most room. This bird’s-eye view would make it dramatically easier to identify storage hogs, clean up unneeded files, and make informed decisions about organizing or upgrading your storage. Integrated directly into the Dropbox web interface, it would be a natural, powerful addition for users who care about managing space efficiently, whether you're close to your storage limit or just trying to be informed and strategic on how you use it. Of course, the particulars of the UI/UX could be debated by your experts, but the gist is that an intuitive visual representation of our subscriptions' allocated space and how it is being used would be a tremendous addition to the platform. My boss really needs a super friendly user experience since he isn't that tech savvy. He'd really like it if the mobile app icon showed the "little red number" for unseen new file uploads. I don't see any option for notifications on new uploads... [edited by moderator to remove the second suggestion] Also, the web interface for posting this has reset twice right before I could post it, wiping my entire post. I had to type it up somewhere else and paste it here. No idea why that was happening...203Views4likes5CommentsNotification icon for unseen new files
Taken from this post. (https://www.dropboxforum.com/idea/101002013/notifications-for-file-request-uploads-and-icon-on-unseen-new-files/826030) For some reason it's giving me an error if I try to put this as a link... My boss really needs a super friendly user experience since he isn't that tech savvy. I think it'd be very helpful if there was an option to show an icon on any unseen new files, and to have folders have a number icon showing how many of these unseen new files are inside. Kind of like unread emails/texts.134Views3likes2CommentsGet an option to prioritize syncing for folders on the desktop app.
Dropbox currently has an option to prioritize which files to sync first. I'd like to extend that to provide the same functionality for selected folders. This will be particularly helpful in migrating to new equipment but also when changing a large amount of content. Can do?172Views3likes4CommentsDownload all comments from a folder into a .csv file.
We need a way to download all the comments in a folder as a .csv. For instance, I have over 100 images, each with a comment from the client on it. It is neither helpful nor time saving for me to download a text file one by one. Bonus points if we could also have the images embedded as thumbnails.102Views2likes3CommentsTab of external users and folders they have access to in Admin Console
Running into the Issue of how do we manage multiple external users. managing external collaborators is a manual nightmare, requiring us to check each shared folder individually or parse unwieldy CSVs from External Sharing reports its driving us crazy267Views2likes6CommentsQuick View: smaller thumbnails option would be helpful
Hi, folder "Quick view" would be more helpful to me if it could show more thumbnails in its panel. Right now the thumbnails are huge and can only show four. Would be great to have smaller thumbnails so I can see 4x that amount in the right panel. Thanks.120Views2likes3Comments
