Having Dropbox on Linux distros running on Arm processors would make a huge difference for people who own Raspberry Pis. Pi 5s have much more computing power than my cheep Ubuntu desktop that ran Dropbox ~15 years ago. I am highly considering making my main driver a Linux running on Arm device. If that happens, I'll have to reevaluate my cloud storage solution. I'm not opposed to compiling code from source if need be. But asking for source code (even just for the client side) seems like a harder battle than asking for binaries.221Views4likes4CommentsRestore the Linux Dropbox Daemon folder selective sync GUI
That latest update to the Linux Dropbox daemon removed the GUI for allowing users to select which folders to sync. This was confirmed to me by technical support (hence me making this suggestion here, per their recommendation). The CLI still works of course (e.g., dropbox exclude add/remove), but this adds another, odious, step, since one has to first find where those files and folders are on Dropbox via the web browser, then build the correct path and copy that to the CLI. It is very, very inefficient. We have gotten used to and accepted the lack of good Linux functionality on Linux over the years (and certainly not smartsync...) while paying the same price as anyone else, but this new regression really does add a whole new impediment to using Dropbox efficiently, especially for business. Please restore the folder select GUI, at the very least!222Views3likes2Comments
