Device (Dell XPS 15, iPhone 13, etc.) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11, macOS14.3, etc.) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) (200.4.7123 - found in app settings or About section) Question or Issue Please describe the problem, in detail. Include what you expected to happen vs. what is happening. Please include any relevant screenshots, error messages or ticket numbers. Windows 11 on a MSI desktop pc I have the basic Dropbox. I recently changed my gmail password and was prompted to restart Dropbox. I thought it would open my original dropbox with the same name but it seems to have overwritten it and all my files have disappeared. I did a system restore of my pc but that didn't affect Dropbox so tried going into properties and restoring a previous version. Clicking that brings up the files but I'm unable to complete the transfer because the files are "write protected" and I don't know how to disable this. Can you help please?Solved9Views0likes3CommentsI'm getting an "Attempted to zip too many files" error when trying to restore a backup.
Device (Dell XPS 15, iPhone 13, etc.) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11, macOS14.3, etc.) Dropbox App Version/Browser Version (Chrome 124, Safari 17 etc.) Question or Issue While trying to restore, or in Dropbox's parlance, "Download" an existing backup of a laptop being replaced by a new laptop, I received the error message shown in the title. No further explanation given. I searched for the error in the Help Files and found... NOTHING! I searched here in the Community and found a thread right away from two years ago that described receiving the same error message. One reply was marked as a solution, and although it may have helped with the OP, pointing him to a Help File article on backups, it did not help me decipher the error message or how to work around it. In fact, the article stated that after signing in to Dropbox on the new computer and downloading and installing the app, that I should have been prompted to automatically restore the backup from the original laptop. That did not happen. I can't even imaging how it could happen since the software wouldn't know which device that had been backed up the new device was replacing. This was very discouraging to me in that not only finding out other people had experienced the same issue, but it wasn't acknowledged in Dropbox's Help Files, and replies had been turned off in the thread, despite the lack of a real solution. My fear is that, despite its hefty fees for services, Dropbox backup and restore may not be really ready for prime time. It's pretty obvious that restoring to a downloaded zip file is not a true restore and involves a lot of extra work by the user, even assuming the backed up data is intact. My guess is that Dropbox doesn't have a true restore function, and that also, it has a limitation on the number of files that can even be downloaded in a zip file. Anyone else experienced this error message and actually found a solution?43Views0likes3Commentséquipe supprimée et compte aussi. Comment récupérer son compte ?

Short Version: Is there a way to just bulk undo the most recent sync of my Dropbox folder? Long Version: I don't use file syncing with Dropbox these days, preferring to manually upload specific files and folders as-needed for collaboration. I don't even have the desktop apps installed anymore. This past week I was cleaning up some clutter and found an old Mac mini, unused for at least five years. I plugged it in and turned it on to make sure it was in a condition suitable for recycling and the very old version of Dropbox that was installed immediately started syncing all of my files from 5+ years ago. So now my Dropbox folder is a mess and my quota is blown. Is there any way to undo this aside from manually sorting through my Dropbox folder? Thanks.44Views0likes3CommentsSupport insists they can't recover my files, but I worked on them a few months ago.

Hello, I'm on an ASUS Zenbook running Windows 11. I have a shared dropbox folder that constantly has files getting wiped/copied (when they get copied they are empty) showing up on the dropbox. It always shows me editing the file and its usually multiple at the exact same time. All the files have nothing in them and instead are blank. I know you can restore the file but its been happening for months and across multiple different shared folders and its honestly a headache to fix. Help appreciated, thanks in advance.59Views0likes4CommentsMy version history is missing.

I just received an email from "no-reply" at Dropbox stating... You recently deleted 3948 files from your Dropbox account. If you want these files back, you can still restore them until 12/12/2025. After that, theyâll be permanently deleted. These are the files you deleted: SyncOperations.plist.lockfile and 3,947 files 11/12/2025 12:55âŻPM using Mac OS X 26.0.1 (link to see deleted files here, which seems legit) I definitely didn't do this. Dropbox seems to be working fine on all my devices. Is this a phishing attempt?Solved71Views0likes8CommentsI'm trying to restore files, but it says I don't have enough space.
Hello - I had a hard drive that died. I downloaded "EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard for Mac" and was able to recover everything. However, when I hit "Recover," then pick DropBox for its destination, it says I don't have enough space, which is wrong. I have 2 TB of space, and I'm only using 8.1% of that space. I AM trying to transfer 550 GB, but I have plenty of room. Anyone know how I can rectify this?Solved105Views0likes6Comments
