28 TopicsRequest to Reinstate Transfer Link in Dropbox Notification Emails
Hi, I hope you’re doing well. This is not a new idea, but rather a request to reinstate a feature that previously existed and, unfortunately, was removed sometime last year. In the past, when I created a Transfer from a Dropbox folder or file, I would receive an email titled “New Transfer: File Name”. That email included the transfer link directly in a copyable text box. This was extremely helpful, as it allowed me to quickly copy and resend the link - especially when clients asked for it again days later, or when I was away from my computer and needed access via my phone and Gmail. Today, the notification email no longer includes the transfer link. Instead, it contains a “Manage Transfer” button, which opens a browser window outside the email app - and not even the Dropbox app itself, which I have installed on my phone. This extra step makes it much harder and less accessible to quickly retrieve and resend a transfer link, particularly on mobile devices. As a dedicated Dropbox user since 2009, I truly appreciate the product and rely on it heavily in my workflow. Reintroducing the shareable transfer link directly within the email - as it previously existed - would be a simple yet powerful improvement. It offered a fast, intuitive way to access transfer links without having to navigate through multiple windows or menus. Thank you very much for your time and for considering this request. It would be great if, when creating a password-protected link, a password with a preset length and strength was generated automatically. Perhaps the password that has already been entered could be displayed so that it can be copied.108Views0likes2CommentsTurn off email notifications for file request uploads.
Hi there. We run a community radio station, and people are constantly uploading new audio files to us, so our email account is getting bombarded with notifications every time a new file arrives. We check our Dropbox account regularly, so these notifiations are completely unnecesssary, and we would like to have the option of turning them off. I looked through the Dropbox forums, and it appears as though other users have been requesting this feature for many years, but you still haven't implemented it! Can you pleae take this into consideration?237Views5likes4CommentsUpdating view-only links in Dropbox Replay
It would be great if you could update videos with in view-only links or if they act like "live" feedback links. At the moment view-only links are locked to the version at which you selected, if there was an another version at the top which said "live" or something similar, which always showed the most up to date video file, but in a view-only setting, that would be perfect.57Views1like1CommentSRT editing in Dropbox Replay
It would be great if clients could edit subtitles directly in Dropbox Replay when checking for spelling. Currently, you can upload the SRT text and view it on the right side, but people without an account are unable to edit it. This would be a great update for Dropbox Replay users. Idea is simply to modify current account specific star system to multi user or creating a new voting button to allow trusted others to see your rating and add their own if they have edit privileges. This would be much faster for simple Go / No Go collaborative decisions for large numbers of files than current ‘add comment’ method. A stretch goal would be different colours of stars to show each user’s choice Example would be a creator shares a Dropbox folder of 500 proof photos with a client and asks them to select the ones that they wish to be edited by starring just their favourites. This MUST improve Dropbox’s collaboration function and as long as it is added to edit privileges, I can’t see any downsides I see that this has been suggested before and closed out, but possibly it is because many users don’t realise this part of the forum exists so don’t up vote?120Views1like3CommentsI'd like to be able to change the permissions on all shared links at the same time.
import a feature that changes the permissions of all the shared links simultaneously I'm having a hard time changing the validity of each link, and it's really tiring. This feature would be a miracle for me, it would make things easier. I want all the links. Anyone with the link can watch the video, but unfortunately some links are team-only, and I have to change their validity for whoever has the link. I hope you make this feature available. I have thousands of links, and I have to change them all, and it's very tiring.275Views7likes6CommentsPassword-protected links should allow direct download without login or register
When I share a file or folder and create a password-protected link, it would be great if, when someone opens it, and want to download, they aren’t asked to log in or register — clicking the download button should simply download the file.73Views1like2Comments
