By the way, almost every russian client get file download, but receiving 0 bytes, error to download and somehow file name is file.pdf in downloads, but in dropbox is other name, something like Привет.pdf. I’ve tested it by my own and there is no problems. It opens in android and ios in different browsers. For the company I work for, I created a shared DropBox folder back in 2013. I setup a Bitly shortened link for it so that anyone with this link can download and copy from our DropBox. They can not edit or upload. I will not post post the link here. Today I clicked the Bitly link and got a DropBox error page. I logged into Bitly, found the shortcut, and copied the original DropBox URL it was pointing to and tried it directly. Same error, so I CAN'T blame Bitly. The DropBox error says: -------------------\ You don't have access You can ask the person who shared the link to invite you directly. Just so you know, you're signed in as xxxxx@xx.com. ---------------------/ The email address on the error is the one I use to log into DropBox. My profile icon is on the top-right of the page showing me I'm logged in. I am the only admin. I can click my icon and get to my home page and access the shared folder without problem. But no matter what browser I use, incognito mode or not, I can not get to the share to work directly. I tried using an alternate shortcut using a different shortening service that I had created in recent years. That worked! I logged into that service and got the DropBox URL is was pointing to and compared it to the non-working one. The DropBox URL that worked is about twice as long as the one from 2013 that doesn't work. The one that worked is in the form of a query sting with "?" and "&" characters. The one that is broke is just a string of characters and forward slashes. So, what changed on DropBox that the old share URL doesn't work? Is there anyway to get it to work?35Views0likes2CommentsMy shared links won't copy to my clipboard on the web browser.
Device (Macbook Pro 2021) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (macOS 15.7.2 / Safari 18.6) Question or Issue Using Safari web browser on my Macbook, when creating a share link to a file or folder, even though it says the link has copied, it will not paste into an email or anything else. I've even tried to opening the standard Text Edit app and pasting as plain text. It just comes up blank. I've tried right clicking on the 'copy link' but that just pastes the folder path as the URL with with a # on the end (no permissions code). The clipboard on the mac also shows as blank after it copies. It wipes off anything I previously copied from the clipboard, so it's clearly trying to do something, but no link is actually being copied. So even though I can create the share link, I have no way of getting it on my laptop. The only thing that has changed recently is that I upgraded my OS to 15.7.2 on 17 Nov, along with the browser version. But I have shared a file the day after I upgraded. I've also tried other web browsers and I'm having the same issue. Other things will copy and paste fine in other apps and websites. Only having the issue with Dropbox. It works fine on the phone app. No issues there. Just in the web browser. That'll be my temporary solution for now is to create it on the phone app and send it to myself. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks Sean107Views0likes9CommentsI shared a video with someone else, but they can only preview the first two hours.
Device (Acer Nitro 5) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Syncing Status ("Up to date") Question or Issue I linked a large mp4 video file (2:04:00, 8.6 GB) and the recipient tells me that it stopped at 2:00:08. The 8.6 GB is well under the file size limit, but is there a time limit on viewing? Is there something else I should be doing? I have it set up in file manager for view only and not to be downloaded.Solved101Views0likes5CommentsCannot remove sharing restriction from my Dropbox account.
I have received an email for the third time saying I have been banned from sharing for exceeding bandwidth limit. I had no idea such a restriction existed. I have a basic Dropbox account, but have built up a capacity of 13.2Gb owing to hardward deals I have bought in the past that has increased my allowance. I have used 8.31Gb of space, so loads of headroom. I only usually share a couple of folders with friends and this has worked continually quite happily for years. These folders are about 1.6Gb. For some reason I am now getting this ban for sharing. I have gone into Dropbox online and removed every old sharing link I can find; it has no effect. I cannot unban the account on the link, just get a message saying 'something's gone wrong. Contact support', which I can't do on the basic plan. Advice please on how to remove the ban and share within the allowance. Thanks!83Views0likes5CommentsError: "Couldn't complete share" - how can I resolve this?
Hi! I have this error with my Dropbox when I was testing the file sharing feature after trying to revive my Dropbox after a while. I'm on the free plan at the moment. Earlier, I had a notice saying. We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy, and Terms of Service or Services Agreement. I'm not sure where it went wrong but I was only trying to test the sharing feature. I would like assistance into this matter please. Thank you.53Views0likes2CommentsWhy was my sharing activity paused?
Hi. I almost don't use my personal dropbox account and yesterday I got this message "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity. For details or to contact support...". My free account can't contact support and have no other details. Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this? Thanks! Luiz83Views0likes6CommentsPublic links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic.
I got an email saying This email is an automated notification from Dropbox letting you know that your Public links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic. Upgrade your Dropbox account today to increase the total amount of traffic your link and file requests can generate. For more information on suspended links, please visit the Help Center. Your current account bandwidth limit is 20.00 GB and your current usage is 21.19 GB. You may remove the suspension by clicking this link otherwise please visit the Help Center. I looked in my shared folder and I don't really have much in there. so I clicked on the link to remove the suspension and then three minutes later I got another email Your current account bandwidth limit is 26.00 GB and your current usage is 33.13 GB. how do I What links these are? I have a few shared folders but I'm not the owner of those folders my current usage is very small so I don't know where this bandwidth usage is measured or shown106Views0likes6CommentsSeeking advice from a team member about using direct image links
I'm testing using the shared link pf images (combined with the edited URL via vercel ) to share a dropbox'd file on a bbcode social media. It seems to be working wonderfully and the idea of being able to update the file and have it update on my page without reuploading it to a third host like IMGBB, seems too good to be true! Is there any caveat to using this? Is it against terms of service in any way? I assume it is just inefficient enough that it's not likely to be abused like it was on discord haha. I will still use imgbb for misc coding images but for my client works, I hate having copies of them floating all over the place and possibly suffering compression; or being out of date because I cannot tinker with the html page every day. I hoped for feedback before I updated my whole code to dropbox links, thank you. 💫38Views0likes2CommentsWe can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.
Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly. Thanks in advance.244Views1like6Comments
