Shared Links
1017 TopicsI'm sharing a file via link, but it forces users to install the Dropbox app.
Been using DropBox for a few years without issue. Now when I share a link … users complain that they can’t access the file and instead get page to download DropBox. For one off file sharing I would not 3d left to be forcing them to install app. Here is sample link [personal information removed per the Community's Guidelines] It brings user to window as in picture attached here: (Can’t seem to be able to add a picture direct) https://flic.kr/p/2qS6nGb57Views0likes6CommentsFolder commands missing from "background" right click when I click on empty space next to folder
Hi there, previously, one was able to right click in empty space on a folder and have the same commands show up that show when right clicking on a folder: These are the options that show when right clicking ON the folder. And as of a recent update, these are not available when right clicking in blank space: I dug around in the registry to see if it was possible to link the command, but it shows in Directory/shellex as normal, so I imagine this is something that has changed on Dropbox side. Is it possible to bring this back at all? Thanks, LukeSolved4.4KViews0likes27CommentsCan't share links as I keep getting an error about a violation of Dropbox TOS and AUP
I keep getting the error "We’ve suspended your sharing activity because of a violation of Dropbox’s Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy" But I have no idea what content in my shared folders violates any policy.12Views0likes1CommentBanned for downloading a file from someone else's link. How is this possible?
Here's the sequence of events: A link to a folder with video files was shared with me (from a business that makes video files) in a password protected folder. I clicked to download the folder locally. Dropbox asks me to login (while giving me the option to just download without logging in), but I log in. I download the folder. I get an email from Dropbox: "This email is an automated notification from Dropbox letting you know that your Public links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic. [...] Your current account bandwidth limit is 20.00 GB and your current usage is 83.87 GB." This is the size of the file I downloaded (locally) from someone else's link. There is a link to remove the ban, and I do that. My question is: why did I get banned at all? The statement in the email is categorically untrue (at no point did my public links generate excessive traffic). Why is my account penalized for downloading files from another account's shared links? Why did downloading a file to my computer from another account count against my personal account's bandwidth, when I should have been able to download this without logging in at all? Addendum: where do I view my account bandwidth limit? Help files for "bandwidth limit" only refer to limiting file transfer in the desktop app.Solved83Views0likes4Comments"We’ve interrupted your sharing activity" error when trying to share files
Dear Friends So I have been using Dropbox Plus for years with and have never had this issue ever. I contacted support regarding this and they asked me to wait for 24 hours which i did. Nothing happened after 24 hours and i still got the error on every file. I created a txt file using browser and tried to share but received the same error. The PC was clean without any viruses or malware but i re-ran all the scans just to be sure again. No malware ! Frustrated, I uninstalled the dropbox from this PC, unlinked it and reinstalled it on another new pc which was also clean. Sure enough, I got the error again. I have emailed Dropbox support 2-3 times, have chatted with them but they have got no clue. It was shocking to say the least. I'm ready to delete all the cloud data as well if that can help but I'm not sure if that will help either. Just stuck with this premium account which is of no use. Can you guys suggest what could be done to get this working ? Ticket #24875011 Thanks20Views0likes3CommentsHow can I remove a user from a Paper document that I shared with them via link?
Hello, I've a personal Dropbox account. I shared the link to someone. He opened it in his work account, instead of his personal account. Now the paper shows his work account as 'opened'. How to remove that? He doesn't want other people who is viewing the Paper to notice his work email address. Please help me.28Views0likes1CommentRecipient of shared link says double-click does not work
I create a link to a file in Dropbox and email it to a user. The user says that when they double-click the link, it does do anything. Their expectation (and mine) is that double-click would open the file stored at Dropbox. My conclusion is that there's something wrong with their application. Nothing is wrong with Dropbox. The email application is Thunderdird from Mozilla. Thanks for your help. SweetTasha25Views0likes1CommentShared links are being downloaded instead of viewed
For years I mass produced document and use Dropbox to share the links with multiple viewers. Recently, when someone click on a shareable link, they are forced to download the document first. How do I resort back to the old way where a viewer can simply see the document without downloading it? I'm looking for a solution that can be used for all documents produced. In other words, I make hundreds of documents (and shareable links) at one time and can't change each individual document. Thank you in advance!34Views0likes3CommentsAllow favorites and comments on shared links
Hey 👋 I love using Dropbox, I always find this one issue when sending clients a folder of photographs for selection. They have to have an account in order to select their favourites or leave a comment. This means manually revising their comments or list of file names, is there a way for favourites to be open to guest users? I’m thinking of something similar to WeTransfer portals which handle this selection process beautifully, I just wish Dropbox had their equivalent for photography not just video.
