I have been using dropbox for a few years but due to running out of harddrive i've opted to save the cloud. now I'm having trouble downloading anything. I managed to download an existing excel file but i cannot save the updated version to the cloud. I understand that i have to learn a different way to download and save so any help would be appreciated72Views0likes2CommentsShared Link Previews / Redirects Fail When Using Dynamic Link Aggregator Pages
Hi everyone, Iâve run into a problem related to how Dropbox handles preview metadata (title, image, etc.) and redirects when links are shared via pages that act as link aggregators (they collect group / invite links and redirect). For example, I have a page: indian Girls Group When a user shares a WhatsApp invite link from this kind of page, then tries to share that link using Dropbox file/folder sharing tools or Dropbox Paper, the preview often fails or shows nothing (no thumbnail / description). Also, sometimes the redirect doesnât open properly when tapped â it stays blank or just doesnât navigate to the intended place. My questions: Could Dropboxâs preview scraping be failing because of missing or malformed metadata (Open Graph / Twitter cards) on the aggregator page? Does Dropbox block or sanitize redirects from nonâstatic pages / aggregator pages for security/trust reasons? Any suggestions on how to ensure that links (via aggregator pages) show proper preview in Dropbox shared contexts (Paper docs, shared links, embed previews)?Solved108Views0likes4CommentsBackblaze won't backup Dropbox folder while files on disk are flagged as online-only
I noticed that Backblaze is not backing up my dropbox folder and after reaching out to backblaze support they've determined that files in my dropbox folder are assigned reparse points. On dropbox preferences\sync I've enabled "Available offline". All of the files in my dropbox folder are on my hard drive (because I've copy/pasted the entire contents to an external drive). "Save hard drive space automatically" is turned off. However, the files in the dropbox folder are still assigned reparse points which causes backblaze to not be able to see them. Is there a way to remove these reparse points? Would uninstalling and reinstalling dropbox have the desired effect?Solved752Views0likes11CommentsMy GarageBand project files keep getting deleted/renamed when adding them to Dropbox.
Dropbox stores the garageband projects as packages (.pkgf) instead of .band files, which so far doesn't seem to cause any problems. Is garageband just renaming them to a generic format or is it actually something different? I'm having an issue with anything new I create in garageband on my phone and later copy into dropbox, the file either disappears completely or renames itself (greyed out) until I open dropbox and rename the file. I would like to get the files off my phone, I used to use iCloud for storage but it stopped synchronizing correctly with windows 10 for me last year. I run a daily backup from my computer to an external hard drive so I have multiple backups, but I currently don't trust iCloud or dropbox for my garageband projects. Curious if anyone could provide any feedback on their experience using dropbox to store garageband projects. Ever had an issue trying to reopen a .pkgf file into garageband?301Views0likes8CommentsPhotoshop won't Save for Web unless Dropbox Desktop & Documents backup disabled
This issue affects Adobe Photoshop and the Dropbox backup features on Mac Big Sur. When the Desktop and Documents are selected as Personal backup folders, it seems to mess up the Adobe permissions, so that the Save for Web option in Photoshop doesn't work. Only when you deselect the Desktop and Documents backup options do the permissions reset. Not sure if this is a Dropbox problem or Adobe problem. I found the solution in the Adobe forums here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-discussions/p-save-for-web-error-a-write-permissions-error-has-occurred-photoshop-22-1-1/m-p/11747734 Would be good if we could fix this so I can continue to back up my Desktop and Documents folders.6.2KViews2likes9CommentsCan't create MS Word docs in Dropbox anymore
I'm a long-term user of Dropbox and I love it's use ability and function. To my dismay, in the past year or so I seem to have lost the ability to create Microsoft Word documents in Dropbox. This is a feature I used regularly, and now it seems to be a long and clumsy process. Let me explain how it used to work and now doesn't. I would go into Dropbox on my Android phone, Select the folder I wanted to create the Microsoft Word document in and then Select the "Plus Symbol" found in the blue circle đ” found floating on lower right hand corner (that option is still there) after selecting the Plus Sign we are presented with an option to "Create or upload file" After selecting that option, I would be presented with a drop-down list of files I could create. These would include the 3 native Dropbox options of "Paper" "Text File" & 'Upload Files" as well as a list of Microsoft file types, which included MS Word & Excel and maybe PowerPoint. I would then select MS Word, and a MS Word document would be created and MS Word App would be seamlessly be activated and away I would go, creating content and saving it safely in Dropbox. Happy days! Now unfortunately when I select "Create or upload file" only the 3 native Dropbox options appear, no longer can I select a Microsoft Document type. I'm not sure why this change has occurred, and there is a work around I've found, but it's clumsy and time consuming and certainly doesn't have the elegance of what I was used to with seamless integration and function. My question is, how can I get the elegant integrated "create" MS Word option/ solution in Dropbox back, I don't want a clumsy work around.761Views0likes7CommentsKeep an active Mac Mail mailbox on Dropbox
Hi, my email archive has grown over the years â I want to keep all the important old stuff (since 1994) because it's kind of my personal archive. Now my mail provider (a little independent company) is complaining about the 50GB+ that I am using and wants to start charging me for that. There's plenty of space in my Dropbox so it would be great to be able to move old mail folders to Dropbox while still being able to access them from all my devices. In a nutshell, this is what I'd like to do: - Make the mailbox folders local on one of my computers so they don't take up space on my IMAP mail server - Move the local mbox folders to Dropbox while still being able to access them through the Mail.app - Then add them as local folders on other devices so they are available everywhere. Is this even possible, or do I risk messing up all my data? Thanks ChristophSolved435Views0likes1CommentSync local library files (from a 3rd party app) with Dropbox on Mac
Hi, I have an app on my Mac which saves all its files on the local drive, in the user's library folder. There's no option to change that, nor can I move them to the Dropbox folder. How can I auto-sync those library files with Dropbox, so that I have a backup?233Views0likes2Comments
