Device (Acer Nitro 5) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) Syncing Status ("Up to date") Question or Issue I linked a large mp4 video file (2:04:00, 8.6 GB) and the recipient tells me that it stopped at 2:00:08. The 8.6 GB is well under the file size limit, but is there a time limit on viewing? Is there something else I should be doing? I have it set up in file manager for view only and not to be downloaded.Solved101Views0likes5CommentsVideo freezing when trying to preview.
I have downloaded longer videos from a dropbox folder, and a few minutes in, the video freezes. At first I thought it was because of the editing software I was using, but changing it didn't help anything. I contacted the sender of the videos, and they confirmed that the videos got fully uploaded. So that must not be the issue. Question or Issue I have students send me links to Dropbox videos here is the link. [Removed as per Community Guidelines] When I go to the link I get the Dropbox screen saying :" mp4 files are supported but something went wrong. I can click on the download link supplies and it downloads but will not play in Potplayer. Error about " The file exists but does not seem to have any video." The student claims the video works on her computer, that is an educational institution one and I cannot get access to it directly due to security. So student has copied and sent me via Dropbox. Tried other peoples Dropbox but no luck in playing it. Any advice gratefully received. Cyril Please try the link and any help you can be would be useful.90Views0likes2CommentsMy .mp4 files have audio, but no video playback on the Dropbox website.

I've been a DB user for over 3 years and I've opened, made offline, uploaded, downloaded, etc. videos hundreds of time. Currently I have a video that's 22GB that when I play it online in any browser, or in the DB app on my iPhone it plays fine. Once I make it available offline the audio plays but not the video. I've even changed from the shared DB its in to my own DB account. Other videos are fine. Thanks David241Views0likes7CommentsMP4 files won't play. ".mp4 files are supported but something went wrong."
This is the second time I have gotten this message from a file that my instructor shared. Last time was a couple weeks ago and it started working after trying a few things. Today I'm having the same issue with a different recording shared by the same instructor. I was 1 hour and 50 minutes into a 2 hour video with no issues and then I get this message. I have cleared my cache, tried several different browsers and troubleshooted what I can think of to no avail. I get the same message on a different computer as well. It won't let me download the file either. Not sure what is going on but it's very frustrating! Any fixes figured out in the last 6 years since the last topic on this was posted??147Views0likes3CommentsThe transcription changes language based on the accent of the speaker.
this is weird. so I have a speech from a french guy with a french accent but talking in english. when I run it through dropbox's transcription, several times the transcription translates what he is saying in english into french. this has happened more than once with different speakers with accents, it auto translates it into their native language.178Views0likes6CommentsSyncing large video folders stops in the middle when trying to sync them.
I’m running into a frustrating issue with Dropbox on my iMac (Ventura 13.7.5). When I try to sync large video folders (~200GB) via the desktop app, the sync process starts but then stops partway through. I often return to find it paused or inactive. I have to manually click the cloud/arrow icon to resume syncing—and sometimes repeat this multiple times before the folder fully syncs. This makes the process unreliable for large transfers. Additionally, when I try to download large folders from Dropbox via the browser, the process usually fails when it attempts to create the ZIP file. Is this a known limitation with Dropbox and large video files, or is there a workaround or setting adjustment I should be aware of? Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.125Views0likes4Comments
