10 TopicsTurn Auto Play off for audio Files
Please add a way to stop audio files from playing instantly, as soon as you open them. On the Dropbox app, using an iPhone, the minute you open the file it starts playing. If you have previously played that audio file and paused it half way through, you can't stop it from playing in time to take it back to the start. We use Dropbox for our choir and keep our backing tracks and sheet music together. During a performance we need to make sure all the files have been returned to the start and we can't have them ready to go to press play.44Views0likes1CommentOption to automatically lock a file.
We constantly have issues with conflicted copies! Yes - even though there is the badge that shows up, and even though file locking is an option if done manually. I've done research and MANY other systems support this feature. I've been a long-time Dropbox user, but am looking aggressively at changing due to this issue. It shouldn't have to be a manual process to prevent someone else from opening the same file I am currently working on and saving a conflicted copy. Who would remember to do a manual file lock each and every time they open a document?!159Views2likes3CommentsEnable Emoji in file names.
I use emojiâs to help me find things quicker. I would like to add an emoji from the apple keyboard to the file folder name but when I click on rename and add the emoji it says âinvalid folder name...the folder name contains invalid charactersâ. Here is an example I wish to change âVehicles and DOTâ folder to say âđVehicle and DOTâ36KViews96likes32CommentsAutomatic Sync Preferences based on modified
Dropbox to allow a setting in the Preferences > Sync where a user can nominate a modified file date in the past (i.e 30, 60 or 90 days) where if the file modified date exceeds this. the files get automatically removed from the persons device allowing people to manage hard drive space more efficiently. Where the no files are left in the folder, the folder itself then gets removed from the device. To put it back on, the person would need to resync it and save it as a updated modified file.66Views0likes1CommentFeature Request: Enable Bills, Receipts, Documents to be Automatically Stored in Dropbox
Imagine if Dropbox created a feature whereby a user could instruct Dropbox to automatically download bills, receipts, or certain other documents from a {SOURCE} when any designated {SOURCE} generates a new bill, receipt, or other allowed document type. WHAT IS BEING REQUESTED? Here's how this feature might work: User asks Dropbox to provision "Automatic Download Feature" for {LIST_OF_DOCUMENT_TYPES} from {SOURCE_X}. Example sources: banks, credit unions, brokerage accounts, insurance companies, utilities, Amazon.com & other retailers, credit card providers, mortgage companies, county tax authorities, payroll providers, cellular phone providers, cable TV providers, FasTrak, PayPal, Stripe, et al, and et cetera. If {SOURCE_X} is a "new" relationship, Dropbox establishes contractual, business, and technical relationships with the source provider. Dropbox & {SOURCE_X} enable user to grant appropriate permissions (e.g., authorization and access credentials), configure target Dropbox folders, et cetera. Whenever {SOURCE_X} generates a new instance of a supported document type for User, a copy is automatically sent to Dropbox (pushed by {SOURCE} or pulled by Dropbox) and filed in the user's designated DB folder(s). Users bask on the beach, drinking Mai-Tais, comforted by the knowledge that they have secure archives and are saving a significant amount of time. (Joyful rounds of Kumbya are optional.) IS THIS POSSIBLE? YES! FileThis, a very well-intentioned company, used to offer this service. UNLIKE DROPBOX, I suspect (and transparently admit I do not know) FileThis could not acquire a sufficient number of paying customers for the idea to be worth their while. This issue is unlikely to be a problem for Dropbox. Please help us, Obi-Box, you are our only hope! Thank you for considering this request.51Views0likes1CommentSearch and sort through images with facial recognition
Iâm in my final year of high school and my cohort has started a Dropbox to compile everyoneâs photos for the whole year. I think it would be really cool to be able to say find all the photos of me, or the photo of me and Person A. Similar of like how you can search by people on the Apple photos app. We have hundreds of photos and sorting through them is tedious. I think this could be a really cool idea.2.1KViews25likes12CommentsKeep original file names in camera uploads feature on mobiles
The idea is not to rely in manually uploading all the time. I want to keep my pictures backed up in case of phone loss or damage, but the names are important as I keep the media backups in multiple places and if the names don't coincide, reconciliation is a hassle. I often end up having to double upload and compare pictures manually so I can see if any of them are missing, and delete the ones with names altered by the Dropbox app. This feels like unnecessary work altogether.166Views2likes4CommentsThe option for old data to be deleted after a specific time.
It would be great if there were an option for the folder that old data is deleted after a specific time is over. For example: I want in Folder1 an automated deletion of data after one month. This option is only for Folder1. In Folder2 is this option not activated and the data is permanent stored. This option would be great for data that is generated of other programs which have access to Dropbox to store data.126Views1like2CommentsI'd like an automation that creates numbered subfolders inside the parent folder.
I'd like an automation where I create one folder for a job (Folder ABC) and have however many automated subfolders populate inside. So when I create Folder ABC; three subfolders populate named Subfolders 1, 2, & 3 inside of Folder ABC.131Views0likes3Comments
