When you download the Dropbox Desktop app, youâre basically adding two things to your computer, the Dropbox folder, which you can find in File Explorer (Windows) or Finder (Mac). and the Dropbox icon, which will sit in your taskbar (Windows) or your menu bar (Mac). Having the Dropbox desktop app will allow you to access, view, save, edit and share all of the files in your Dropbox account, directly from your desktop. This means you won't need to waste time logging into various accounts to find your files and folders and you can even access them offline if you are out and about with no connection. Downloading the Dropbox desktop app Downloading the Dropbox desktop app, or Dropbox installer, is very simple and can be done by clicking this link. Once you click on it, the download will start automatically. Once the download is complete, youâll see the Dropbox installer at the bottom of your browser, youâll need to click on it to open it and then double click the Dropbox logo to begin the installation. Then, follow the onscreen prompts to complete the process. Why does Dropbox remove a file from my hard drive when I "back up" to dropbox? The "dropbox help" info does not explain this. I've selected the option to "keep copies on my hard drive", but files still vaporize off my hard drive as soon as I copy them to dropbox. Do I need to turn off synching? I didn't mean to turn it on in the first place, and now it seems it seems I've inadvertently given dropbox permission to mess with my computer such that if I change any settings or if I unsynch a folder/file, it will disappear off dropbox AND OFF MY HARD DRIVE. I guess I don't understand Dropbox at all. But what does Dropbox not understand about the concept of a "BACK-UP"? A back-up is a copy, not a replacement. I don't want synching across devices etc. I just want a few files backed up to the cloud, and for the original FILES ON MY COMPUTER TO BE LEFT ALONE PLEASE. The help info is totally unhelpful on this. Can anyone tell me how to do this without losing files?Solved411Views0likes5CommentsCan I break the connection between my Dropbox account and local Dropbox folder?
Hello... I recently backed everything up to drop box, then had it restored to my computer. All the files are on my computer and in Dropbox. When I delete those duplicate fils in Dropbox, they are deleted from my computer. How do I stop that from happening and just delete them from Dropbox? Thanks.297Views0likes2CommentsSpring Clean your Desktop with Dropbox đž

I am looking for advice on an issue with my Downloads folder. I do designs for sublimation printing so I download hundreds of images every week. I always move them to a special folder where I unzip, sort & name the files. Then I assign them a 'design name' & move them to an appropriate folder to be prepped. I just realized last night that DropBox is backing up the downloads folder before I get them moved. I do not store anything in the Downloads folder so that seems kind of redundant. I am open to thoughts &/or solutions to the problem. Many Thanks, MamaWolfSolved264Views0likes2CommentsDownloading my Dropbox on an external SSD drive
Good evening, I am happy with my dropbox and would like, in addition, to keep an SSD backup. I did purchase an external SSD but I don't find how to synchronise my existing dropbox with this new empti device. Of course, I did copy and paste from my local pc "dropbox" directory, but this does not include the files that are exclusively on dropbox. So please how could I proceed.Solved220Views0likes4Comments
