The title says it all. Dropbox capture is the worst "upgrade" I have ever encountered. It adds extra steps to my workflow and is utterly useless to me. I simply want my screen shots to save to my drop box screenshot directory How do I do this? I cannot find the actual directory to which the screen shots are saved to. I can change the screen shot destination easily from the command lineSolved23Views0likes2CommentsScheduling a daily back up frequency of my internal and external drives.
I'm new to Dropbox and I'm experimenting with the free trial. I want to be able to use Dropbox for daily back ups of my internal and external drives. How do you select a back up frequency? I'm on an iMac, if that makes a difference. Thanks26Views0likes3CommentsCan I use computer backup and move my Dropbox folder to another SSD drive?
I bought an SSD so I could move my 2TB Dropbox into that second drive. But now Dropbox complains that it can't backup my folders from the main drive. Why? How can I have my Dropbox reside in dedicated second drive but still have my essential folders backed up from the main drive?26Views0likes3CommentsMac: Dropbox Backup - "Error - can't backup this device"
I have an external drive connected to my Mac (iMac 2020. Big Sur 11.7.9. Dropbox 183.4.7058). The drive shows up on the desktop and there're no issues with it. Approx 2 weeks ago it stopped syncing via Dropbox. When I go to Backups - status shows "error....can't backup device. Unplug and try again" I've tried ejecting and reconnecting drive & reinstalling Dropbox. Nothing works in terms of getting Backups to recognise that it's connected. When I click on "manage backups" the drive doesn't show up there. I have now started making a duplicate backup of the drive - this new backup does show up in "manage backups" . When I click on the desktop Dropbox icon it shows up there under "sync and backups". However - in Backups, it also show "error - can't backup this drive" under status. Is it possible to reconnect this original backup so I don't have to sync 2.5TB again? See screenshots - original backup is "Lacie 16TB", duplicate backup is "Lacie 16TB (1)"664Views0likes9CommentsHow to undo an accidental backup to Dropbox?
A couple of months ago I must have accidently hit a key where it seems my complete computer is backed up to dropbox. I'm on a Mac and my "Documents" folder now has a Dropbox icon and it seems each file is no longer located on my mac but on Dropbox. So I depend on internet speed for access to the files. I have solved part of the problem by making all my folder "available offline" which, I assume, restores my Mac the way it was before. But I would like to permanently disable this automatic backup and have my documents folder looking the same way it was before all this happened.770Views0likes5CommentsA bunch of my files went to Zero Bytes on Mac
This issue was posted here like five years ago by a different user and the fix worked for them but I've encountered the issue now and the fix isn't working. Basically, I've got a new Mac, synced all my files from my old Mac but they're mostly showing up as Zero Bytes and they're not openable. I tried going to my preferences->Account->holding down the alt/option key and clicking "Fix Permissions". It prompts me for my computer password, I enter it, it seems to work but doesn't. So I do it again, then I receive the error message in Dropbox: "Dropbox was unable to fix permissions in your Dropbox. Please contact support if the problem persists." I'm on the basic plan, so I don't have access to proper support (bad show, guys) so I'm hoping someone can help.46Views0likes6CommentsNo files, but 5 GB of storage is taken by a backup. Where are my backups?
Good day, does anyone know how it is possible that when you empty your entire dropbox, 5 GB of space is still 'used'? It turns out to be a backup, but I can't find the backup storage anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find this?Solved37Views0likes2CommentsCan I back up my new external drive to Dropbox without re-uploading my old backup files?
I'm using Dropbox Backup to backup about 1TB of files on an external drive. I'm replacing the drive, and I've already copied the files to the new drive. Now I want to tell Dropbox to backup the exact same files, but on a different drive. I'm afraid if I just remove the old drive from the configuration and add the new one, it will remove all the files from the cloud, then re-upload them from the new drive, a process that will take several hours. Is there any way to avoid this?32Views0likes3CommentsHow can I back up my Documents folder when it's on another drive?
My Dropbox Plan Provides 2TB In Cloud; and my C Drive has 330GB of space free and is drive where folder C:\Users\Gary\Dropbox to add items to Dropbox in cloud exists. I want to be able to backup my entire My Documents folder (380GB) currently on a separate much larger capacity SSD drive to Dropbox - is on my N drive. My limited space of C drive means I cannot place this drive in Dropbox at C:\Users\Gary\Dropbox as I will run out of free space. So question is How do I get My Documents folder into Dropbox cloud when folder is bigger than the free space on C drive for me to deposit it in C:\Users\Gary\Dropbox ? Am novice user and just started on Dropbox. Thx Drop ball.Solved73Views0likes6Comments
