dropbox vault
27 TopicsIs there another way to protect a folder in my Dropbox account without Vault?
Since the disappearance of the Vault I have two folders sitting in my Dropbox that I do not want my children to have access to. They want to look through their family and holiday photos though, which I also store in Dropbox. Protecting one folder with my phone code doesn't work as they have that (and I want them to have it). Is there really no alternative to permanently protecting a folder in my Dropbox from prying eyes?39Views0likes3CommentsRetain Vault!
There are so many reasons to continue Vault but a key one is that the Dropbox folder on a PC (and a Mac?) is not protected by Windows or iOs in any normal way. Vault made protection possible for key files. But of course being able to protect the entire Dropbox folder on a PC or Mac would be an even better idea!Solved1.7KViews14likes33CommentsVault termination
It seems like Dropbox is about to do it again. After removing the strong integration with Google Docs, causing many customers to all of a sudden have to work with links instead of documents, Dropbox is now planning for the termination of Vault (end of March '25). Did you like the function that allowed you to keep some files extra safe in a fully encrypted and PIN-locked container on your dropbox ? Yes ? Well tough for you! Remarkably, Dropbox now claims it will automatically move the files you have stored in your vault to a normal folder on your regular dropbox. Oh really? I guess that means Dropbox has full access to my vault then, and can just move files around as they see fit ? That is quite alarming for a functionality that is supposed to be fully encrypted. Really Dropbox, this is NOT how you obtain customer satisfaction or loyalty. I've been using your service for about 20 years now, but I'm actively checking out alternatives.Solved4.5KViews30likes73CommentsCan you keep the Dropbox Vault please?
Very Dissatisfied At Hearing About The Vault Being Discontinued. The Vault is an extremely handy extra security feature, adding another layer of security. I’m very dismayed to hear that Dropbox, has astonishingly, come to the decision to drop this feature! It makes zero sense. I hope that the company will reevaluate this shocking decision and keep the Vault in play. Many Thanks, Edmond977Views12likes8CommentsPlease don't deprecate Dropbox Vault.
PLEASE reconsider discontinuing Vault. I really like and use the feature. I remain logged in on a few devices and enjoy that ease of functionality. However, there are some types of files that I prefer to protect a little extra. Yes, I could further encrypt, but that adds extra steps. Please Keep Vault!Solved217Views2likes1CommentUser-selectable auto-lock time period for Dropbox Vault
If you are doing a complex task on files that you keep in the Dropbox Vault then the current fixed maximum time limit of 20 minutes is too short and can cause problems if you miss the deadline to close all your files before it "auto-locks. It would greatly increase the flexibility in using this otherwise useful facility if the user could set a wider time-frame before auto-lock enforced closure.59Views0likes1CommentVault disappeared on iPhone app after last update
I’m running iOS 17.1 and DropBox app version 352.2.2. Since the last DropBox app update Vault is no longer accessible. I’ve been able to access it on the desktop site only. I’ve cleared the cache and signed out but Vault does not show up. Is this a known issue with this version or is it a feature going away on the app?3.5KViews0likes17Comments
