Longtime Dropbox customer, first time complainer - paying customer for a few years now. So first, please understand that before submitting a support ticket, I did my due diligence with an exhaustive search of all sync'd folders as well as my hard drive. The only other customer with shared access did the same on his system. The files in question had not been edited or otherwise accessed in about 9 months, so tracing back to find those events was very time-consuming since I use Dropbox every day and have many events to sort through. I never did trace all the way back that long, and decided it was time to involve Dropbox support. Support, which was probably an AI Chatbot of some sort, went through the basics, even though I told them I had already done that. Regardless, they -required- that I provide every detail of information about the folder, last access of files, etc., over and over, including screen shots to show the files weren't in either place (computer or website folders). After days of this back and forth, they found the last events, from 9 months ago, which were edits. They suggested clicking on those edit links and downloading the files, which I did, and which were empty or corrupted files. Note that NO EVENT was shown about moving, removing, deleting files, etc. from any source. Cutting to the chase, "support" closed the ticket as "solved" without ever once finding the actual files, what happened to them, when or why. They claimed at least a few times that "Dropbox can not delete, move or remove files". I posted a Google review of this incident, and just read a reply that I should post on this forum as well as the "X" presence, but since I don't belong to "X" (Twitter), this is as far as I'll go with it. I expect very little from this forum in the way of a solution or getting my files back, in tact, but consider this the remainder of my due diligence. Because of this incident, which as far as I know is the only one, my trust in Dropbox is approximately ZERO, so I have purchased an external backup hard drive - WHICH I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE - because Dropbox was supposed to be that backup source! If you think you can help, or know some trick the Dropbox "support" doesn't know, I welcome your reply. If you're a "SuperUser" that just wants to tell me it was my fault, then please refrain. I've read a number of condescending responses trying to hang the user out to dry, which is simply childish. There is NO EXCUSE for a single file going missing from Dropbox without, at the very least, an event log showing when, why, where, who and how.I deleted photos from my desktop app and they also got deleted from the web. Can I recover them?
Hello, I think I have made a huge mistake. My knowledge of computers is limited. Is there anything I can do? Sometimes I use software on my computer that take a lot of memory. So I deleted a lot of data in order to make space. I thought I could delete files and photos from my computer and they still would be on dropbox. I understand now I was wrong. I did not look at these files and photos for a long time so I can not say exactly when it was all deleted but probably some time last year. I have had dropbox for many year. Is there anything I can do? I have a Plus account. Grateful for any help34Views0likes5CommentsAll files are gone. I don't even have a file in my account.
I state that I have always logged into my account for no more than 9 months, and I find myself with full space warning notifications from 7 months ago including from the access history shows a login just 7 months ago. Now I find myself with not even a file, practically 2 gb of files gone and with the deleted file history empty. Support impossible to contact, and no reason for how they disappeared. Has this happened to anyone? Is it possible to recover something?55Views1like3CommentsHow can I recover my files?

I need to extend my membership and I can not stress the importance of gaining access to my files that were in my dropbox. PLEASE HELP ME17Views0likes2CommentsMy Dropbox Account Disappeared! I need help to get my DB account back. It disappeared after being a DB customer for 10 yrs plus. I had an account with like 5TB of files and now when I log in, it shows me as having a basic 2gb account with NONE OF MY FILES!!! How can I speak or chat with a human??? Thanks!74Views0likes9Comments2 files disappeared right in front of my eyes and I can't find them anywhere.
I seriously can't believe this. Two personal files of mine (videos) from January 2016 and February 2016 just disappeared in front of my own eyes. They are not in "Deleted Files" or any other folder and I have not removed them myself. I work in IT support myself and have already gone through all the basic troubleshooting steps. This issue seems to be on Dropbox’s end. I need these files urgently restored as they are important personal data. Can the Dropbox admins please investigate why this happened and whether Dropbox has any system in place that could have removed them? This is very alarming. Please let me know if the files can be recovered.25Views1like1CommentI need help restoring my files, and the active ticket isn't processing.
On Monday (2/3/25) I accidentally deleted a very large and crucial to my livelihood folder. I immediately reached out to Dropbox chat support and got a couple of different answers as to what I can do. My account tier holds deleted files for 180 days. So I was pretty calm when they told me a simple "rewind" would restore the files. Without going into days and hours of details, here's how things are playing out: The process was immediately not working. I was escalated to the "advanced team". I was assured by someone named Jared, that all was fine and under control. I had to wait for the current rewind attempt to be either successful or fail and then he or his team would help with the next steps. Nothing happened for a couple days...DAYS. By all accounts, this rewind process should take a few-to-several hours. During this time, not follow-ups and no replies to "Jared" and the advance team. Thursday (2/6/25) I got an automated email saying that me rewind attempt has failed (and this this is normally a one-time occurrence), and I should return to the folder and try to rewind again. It seemed to be working....then during the night last night (hours later) it stalled. It's been all day now (2/7/25) and the rewind has not picked up again. At present I have a fraction of my files again. I am losing income with every day that this restoration service (which we pay for) isn't working. Customer service is not replying, if they do, I get the typical "copy and pasted" replies. CAN ANYONE HELP? I need my files restored TONIGHT. ticket number (current ticket, there have been a couple this week): #2474429646Views0likes7CommentsAlmost all of my files in my folder are gone now
Hello! Today for the first time there was a problem with deleted files, which I can't fix. After downloading a file from Dropbox on my iPhone, I wanted to delete it. As always, I used the "delete" option on it, but I noticed that instead of a single file, the entire folder had disappeared. I immediately went to the Recover Files option and restored the entire folder. The problem is that only a few files (232 MB) were restored, while most of the 3 GB disappeared! They are not in the files to restore and my Dropbox shows 4.3 GB instead of the previous 7 GB. Help, what to do?Solved90Views1like9CommentsLost access to email associated with a Dropbox account that I haven't signed in it for 6-7 years.
I wish to recover my Dropbox account that I created when I was around 13 years old. It has a number of my childhood photos and other important files uploaded to it and I would really like to get access to that account again. Unfortunately I have since changed devices and phone numbers and I don't have access to the email I used to create the account. Google can't help me recover my account because they don't have enough information to prove that it's mine, so I can't reset my password on there and thus not on Dropbox either. I have tried all the options both Dropbox and Google have to offer me but to no avail. I haven't logged in to that account in probably 6-7 years but I would really like to get those files back, they mean a lot to me emotionally. Can someone please help me? I am willing to do anything at this point.26Views0likes2Comments
