Hi there. I'd been working on an Excel doc on desktop Dropbox and accidentally closed the program without saving. Now I've lost 4 hours of progress and can only restore to the version I last saved at 2pm yesterday. Isn't Dropbox supposed to autosave versions every few minutes? Please send help asap! Thank you!Solved18KViews0likes21CommentsFiles disappeared from my Dropbox folder & it seems that more than 100K files were deleted.
The problem started yesterday. I noticed some files were missing from local synced files as well as the web interface. This morning more files disappeared. I checked the Deleted Files folder. It appears that close to 100,000 files were deleted at the same time yesterday afternoon, which I absolutely did not do. I have a Basic account with limited support. Can someone enlighten me on how to solve this problem? Thank you in advance! p.s. I am an IT professional and have been using Dropbox for many years without issues. I am confident it is not a new user issue.Solved7.7KViews0likes6CommentsI need to permanently delete my files, but I get message "x items couldn’t be permanently deleted".
When I wanted to permanently delete a file or folder (which I may have shared with others or not). I used to be able to delete it in Finder and then would get asked by Dropbox: Delete "untitled folder" from everyone's account and all devices? I then confirm with "Delete for everyone" and proceed to empty the trash on my Mac. Now I log on to my Dropbox account, go to "Deleted files" and select the ones I want to permanently delete. Then confirm this and they were gone, space would be freed up. Well, gone are those glory days of simplicity, because: NOW I get told by Dropbox: "File XYZ will be gone forever for everyone, including for anyone still using the folder. Permanently deleting this folder won’t free up space." I confirm by selecting "Permanently delete" NOW I get the message: "x items couldn’t be permanently deleted" Dropbox tells me – uselessly: "What you can do": "Ask the owner to help permanently delete this" I AM the #!*¥ owner, aren't I? Plus, didn't clicking "Delete for everyone" on the desktop version make it clear that ALL those files have to go? Shurely this is a recent bug. It wasn't such a hassle before to get rid of old files. Or am I missing something? GrrrrrSolved18KViews3likes10CommentsSome of my files inside my Dropbox folder show up as zero bytes. Why is that?
When I save file, the file will appear in my DropBox, but when I open it the file is completely blank or only kept an older version of the document. I realized some of these "saved" items are being saved as Zero bytes. I am not sure why this is happening.Solved35KViews0likes91CommentsHow to recover access to a shared folder deleted by the other user?
I have losted a extremely important folder which includes all of my book keeping & accounting info. When I notified my accountant we'd like to switch our accounting service to another accountant, he had then deleted that folder immediately with out our authroisation. He set up the folder, then shared with us. We have the right to view and edit the folder, and everything in the folder is our accounting information. Hope someone can advise and help us!4.4KViews0likes5CommentsGIT Repo Restore Error - Files with older dates put to Dropbox
I have an AI assistant that decided it would be good to do a GIT Restore. This wrote over the files in my dropbox. Can I get some help to restore the system to yesterday? Currently the "restore" doesn't work since it is date based and it sees that the file written were from a month ago and it thinks that nothing has happened in a month. This isn't true. We need a Apple type of rewind so we can look at and use from a date, not based on file dates.!!!! OK, here goes, looking for a one-in-a-million shot. And thank you very much to anyone who may answer me. I recently deleted almost all my word files in dropbox, through cyber-stupidity. Then I received an email saying I have thirty days to restore them. I eventually figured out that I can bring up "deleted files" and hit restore. But I want to go through hundreds of files to pick out many to restore, and my dropbox will only let me bring up twenty-five files for possible restoration, and will not let me scroll further to find other files to restore. By any chance, does someone out there with a LOT more computer knowledge than I possess, know how I can bring up deleted files and get the list to scroll all the way through the hundreds I have deleted so I can pick out a lot of them to restore? Again, I would be immensely grateful to receive a response. Heck, I'm such a computer dunce, I don't know that I'll be able to find the response if someone does reply to me. But again, thank you all for taking the time to read this note. Dave P.S. I have a Mac Mini.50Views0likes2CommentsWhy is my account full even after deleting everything?
This is reason number 7 why I use Google Drive. forgive me for my attitude… but I’m sick of this crap! everything I do in Google Drive works perfectly all the time! However… I have 1 client that wants to use Dropbox. Haven't logged in since 2023 because the platform sucks. Reset password and logged in today. Surprise! Got proved right again… my “storage was 700% full”. Old stuff I already have in Google. So, I deleted EVERY folder I had. storage still full! went to deleted items. Deleted EVERY folder there! Their is now ZERO items anywhere inside my account! STILL!!!! Storage is full! Full of what? This is so stupid! Can I sent my client his files before Christmas? No, I can’t. Dropbox is too stupid to update and let me! I’m not giving you 15 bucks so i can send 1.2 gigs to 1 random guy! Can anyone help me or advise?Solved91Views1like12Comments
