9 years agoThe team has finished some further work on this, and is reporting the performance should be back to about previous levels. There is certainly still room left for improvement, and the team has an open feature request to improve performance in general, but I don't have a timeline for if/when further improvements would be implemented.

Thanks for letting us know! I've re-ran the tests and this whole issue still persists and is partly even worse than before (adding up some seconds to the delays between the chunks). I think you should generally inform users about this issue, because I see people complaining about bad upload speed. The speed uploading single chunks is actually great but the overall upload time is very long because of the delays in between uploading chunks due to dropbox probably calculating hashes to check whether the content is on a censored-content list or something like that.
The folder-sync using an app does not seem to be affected by this. It's only direct uploads using REST API or the web interface.
I'd really like this issue being resolved, since me and a lot of my colleagues would love to use Dropbox because of some of its features with which the competition lags behind.
