Regarding the folder identifiers that are the same across users who share the folder
I need an identifier that will be the same across users who share the folder.
After investigating "/2/files/list_folder" API, we were able to confirm the following:
- For folders for which a "shared_folder_id" can be obtained, the "id" values seen by each user are different but the "shared_folder_id" values are the same.
- For folders for which a "shared_folder_id" cannot be obtained (folders for which a "parent_shared_folder_id" can be obtained), the "id" values seen by each user are the same.
Are the above findings guaranteed by the Dropbox API specification ?
Thank you for your support.

Hi ca-01,
A "shared_folder_id" will be the same for all members who have access to that folder. Likewise, a "parent_shared_folder_id" will be the same for all members who have access to that folder.
That said, deleting and recreating a shared folder will result in a new "shared_folder_id" or "parent_shared_folder_id", accordingly.

Are the "id" values of child folders of a shared folder the same for all members ? - DB-Des10 months ago

ca-01, the "id" for child folders should be the same across all members that have access to the shared folder(s).
If you are still seeing inconsistent behavior, feel free to open a support ticket so our team can take a better look at what may be happening. In the support request, please include the full text of any error or unexpected output and relevant code snippets (do not include access or refresh tokens).

Thank you for your reply.
I discovered that the "id" value changes when a shared folder is unshared.
Is it a specification that the "id" value of a shared folder changes when it is unshared?

As you have discovered, the "id" value is expected to change when the folder in unshared, yes.
